First off, you replied to the original post and not to the post you refer to. Would normally make it hard to follow (no pun intended).

The poster you refer to was trying to be funny by mentioning his "family". When you've been around a bit longer you will see that he likes to come up with "aliases" for nearly every occasion and refers to them as his "family". Amusing to him to no end, I'm sure, and silly and annoying to most everyone else.
To each their own.

Will someone please clear up my confusion on the use of aliases?  On the General Board I've seen experienced posters complain when someone posts using an alias.  How do they know when an alias is being used?  I mean, aren't we all basically using aliases? Why is using an alias a bad thing?

If it's there, they're using the ter handle, if it ain't than they're using an alias. By using your ter handle you can then go and see who a hobbyist has reviewed, all his other posts. It gives you some idea of the background of the hobbyist or the escort.  With an alias you get none of that ability. Plus you cannot pm them, if you want to discuss the post in private.

The way I see it the term alias AS USED on this board is any name other than the one on your TER birth certificate.
For the purpose of this board The name on your TER birth certificate is your "real name" and any other name you use is an alias
As for me, I suppose,technically,  you could say I  have numerous aliases, however since the Followme family is so large I allow my cousins and other family menbers to sign on using my TER log in name then go to their names such as

FatherFollowme
EasterFollowmeBunny
PopeFollowmeLXIX
DrFollowmeMD
RabbiFollowme
Followmeopolis
ProfessorFollowme
CoachFollowme
to name just a few of my family (there are many others )
So technically these are aliases , however in my case they are all real  members of the followme family.
To the best of my knowledge they do behave themselves.

Registration is free, why would you let other people use your LOGIN??  So your saying that any post or review (even though you haven't had 1 in about 5 years)  that is under this name is bogus?? It could have been done by any one of over a dozen people Followme??  Not sure what's worse, doing that or admiting you do it!!

Use of topical humor when the alias enhances the humor

The creation of a character(literary license) to be used in an informative, fun, innocuously sarcastic, philanthropic, as well as topical way.

Anonymity for when regional or associational sensitivities may be of concern, particularly when there are members out there who will harass you on the boards when you disagree strongly with them.

Innocuous playing of "devils advocate" in a discussion or debate where one wishes to not be further/future aligned with one faction or the other.  If you look at the GD Board, there are providers who have flat out stated that they won't see someone based on some of their posts.  Why would any guy take the chance.

Avoidance of suffering political fallout for a comment that may have been wrongly construed in a possibly volatile discussion.  Some of these regular posters are hyper-sensitive, and also don't read the whole post before going ballistic.

Posting investigative reports, meet & greet announcements, helpful advice, or other similar types of useful information where the use of a user-name could prove problematic or open the poster up to incessant PM's and questions.

Concerns in revealing your review history.  This is a big one when you are posting about a particular provider that you are not going to name. In those situations, you open ALL of your reviewed providers to the public guessing who you are talking about.  It's not fair to the others.

Ability to contribute where you would otherwise feel embarrassed to speak candidly.  Some are just too shy, but will post under an alias.

To avoid a google search turning up your review history.  Some of these guys only post in alias for this reason.

longevity (since Sept. 2010, all of 2 months if I'm not mistaken) and experience on TER and vast knowledge of TER ............you know not of what you speak.
as for no reviews in 4 1/2  years (though I do have 18) perhaps you should have at least one before sticking your foot in your mouth.

A bad alias is the insignificant little troll who spoofed my name.
He and his ilk just troll the boards criticizing and often  insulting me and several others for no reason.
and offer nothing positive to the board.
On occasion I reply but often just let him think he hurt my feelings or whatever it is that goes through his little mind. I do often think that his unwarranted and unprovoked insults/attaches etc. should be grounds to have his alias flipped but that I guess take a more egregious postings so for the most part I usually just ignore (never open) him when I see one of his posts.
Do not let him and his ilk deter you from posting and using an alias. Just be yourself and have fun, even if some of the meaningless little trolls post a negative comment for what you post. Just see them for  the  useless insignificant poltroons they are .

Better yet, see a provider or two and write a review.

XLV is 45 in Roman numerals. Is it a number thing or an ASCII symbol thing?
