I understand blacklisting. But does whitelisting imply a special status more than just not blacklisted? Thanks

Providers put clients on the "white list"  means they've seen you. Read the link for a previous thread.
You might also want to learn how to use the search feature TER has for all boards. At the top of each board page you'll see the tab search.  Click on it, you can than search either by subject or author
