If a provider can make a case to TER that a certain review is bogus for whatever reason, then TER might take it down. I have seen several situations where that happened.
On the other hand, sometimes a provider will ask and TER will not take down the review. In one case a certain provider persisted in pressing her case. TER did't want any unhappy providers around so guess what happened? She's not around any more.
I've had a woman on my radar for about a month. She's consistently received 7-8s from maybe a dozen reviews, but then a bad review popped up. A few days later it was gone (or had been changed, didn't note the handle of the poster).
My question is: how was it removed/changed?? There was nothing in it that seemed to violate policy (it was obviously approved by the mods to get posted), it was just a bad review. I just pulled up my approved reviews and can't those. Can providers take down bad reviews??

Reviews are not approved by the mods. The mods have nothing to do with the review process. Reviews are read and approved by staff. Other than making sure the link to her ad or site is good there is no fact checking done. If a review goes up and the lady thinks it is a fake she can make her case with TER to have it taken down.
From the provider side, removing bad/fake reviews is very difficult. If this one was taken down, staff must have had a compelling reason. I got a bum review once from a client who was obviously mad at the time of the appointment. When the review went up he blatantly lied. I contacted admin with several specific and verifiable inconsistencies and the review was taken down. But most aren't that easy. If someone I've never seen writes a review, how do I prove I've never seen him?
If you're worried that the provider might be overbearing, try contacting some of the other guys that have reviewed her and ask for their impressions.
If providers could take down bad reviews, we would never see one last for more than a day.
As was said, admin could pull the review if they had reason to believe it was fake. Also, the guy who wrote the bad review can ask admin to pull it down or change it after it has been posted. I'll leave it to your deductive reasoning to figure out why they do that sometimes.
If the same reviewer posts a new review within a certain period of time, it replaces the old review. I am pretty sure that is stated somewhere in the review guidelines, probably 30 days.
I did my first two reviews before I got my (free) VIP membership, of course. I used the ratings that had descriptions that seemed to correspond with how I would describe my experience (and I tend to be critical - I almost never give out 10s on any surveys because nothing is perfect). When I became a VIP and saw how others rated providers, I was dismayed because my scores were so out of line. I was describing a 9 or 10 experience and giving a 7 score. So I set about correcting my scores. It was not easy, but eventually I got new reviews approved and the old ones disappeared. In one case, I did receive a PM asking if the provider had pressured me to change my review, but that was not the case.
My guess is that if you see a review disappear, or change, it is most likely the reviewer posting an update. Probably much more frequent than any other situation.
