How can I see an escort for the first time when in their contact form they want 2 references? Even massage providers want references/lots of personal information. Does anyone know any ladies in the Delaware/Philadelphia/NJ area who don't?
I'm a relative newbie, having begun less than a month ago. With each of my first two contacts, I offered to meet them in person in a neutral place (Starbucks, McD's) a day or two before the date for a brief look-see, so that they could see I was not LE or a psycho. Both declined and went ahead and made the appointment, but both appreciated the offer.
Learn how to use the search feature. Read the self help manual several times if you haven't. Get VIP if you don't have it and do a search in the reviews section. I'm sure with a little time and effort you will find what you are looking for.
While I wont say that you cant find a provider that does not screen it does make it even more important you get VIP and do plenty of research. Even providers that don't screen can have reviews here, picking a non reviewed provider who does not screen is doubling your chances of having a bad experience. The best way is to expect that you may have to give some information out. Now some independent providers will screen with other information if you don't have references, again checking them out first as well reviewed providers lessens your risk giving out information. Secondly some agencies have easier screening requirements. To really limit how many times you may have to give information out join one of the major screening sites P411, Date Check or Room Service 2000. I don't know about the latter two but p411 will work with you if you have problems with there standard screening, like no job to call. Then after you are on you can search their site for ladies that are newbie friendly and then cross check them for reviews here. It is hard getting started but not impossible if it was too easy then you have increased your chances of getting caught in a sting or having a rip off.
Meeting in a neutral location a few days from an appointment is not going to happen..we are in the business to make money for our time. So you get our time and you still may not schedule. While the request may be innocent, it is a tad annoying to me. Likewise gentlemen who send 20+ e-mails over the course of a few weeks asking questions and making chit-chat. I want to make you feel comfortable, don't get me wrong...but 9 times out of 10 this gentleman will never schedule with you.So you wasted all that time and energy for nothing...
Now on to the advice!
Look for newbie friendly providers(check p411 as well)giving your information to a well reviewed provider is not bad. If she values her safety she is going to value yours as well. ANY provider who sees you without your information,references,or a date check website is very dangerous. Likewise for your first few meetings see a lady who is very well reviewed to make sure you are getting what you want and you know your experience will be worthwhile.
So find a well reviewed local lady who is willing to your personal information or you ID in lieu of provider references. If you truly don't feel comfortable giving this info to the lady then go through a date-check type website. It's a company that takes your information and verifies you are who you say you are.(be warned that getting verified through here may not be enough for some providers)
You are going to have to give out some personal information to either a provider or agency to see a lady. But as stated above if you don't give your information and see a lady like that you are going to have a very bad time or worse...

I do not give out a single piece of my personal information - not my name, where I work, my address, nothing. There are girls willing to see me and those who won't based on that. I'm not putting my credit card into any online verification system. Sorry - it'll never happen.
I fully understand it's a safety issue. Truly, I understand that. However, I'm here to cover my own ass. While there are really bad "john's" there are equally bad providers. A few are on drugs and yeah...that's what I want - some drug user with my real name, home address and work address. Maybe she wrote all of my info down somewhere then gets busted. Now LE has all my info.
I've been at this for over 20 years and seen it all. I've had providers text and call me (which is a no no) begging to set up an appointment TODAY! I gets stuff like "I'm getting evicted tomorrow...." I can't even imagine if they had my work phone or home address...or my real name. Then you're also open to potential blackmail.
Referrals rule. No doubt and that's what I use. Aside from that, I recommend to guys starting out that they search and find a provider that doesn't want their ID, work phone number, etc...
In addition to being good to work with re screening info, P411's providers all list if they're "Newbie Friendly" or, if they require references, how many. No refs required are listed as Basic Only. One ref is Basic Plus One. And so on. So it's easy to find someone who'll see you, as long as you're in a "provider-rich environment." If not, you may have to travel.
Just for the record, some ladies don't ask for any information but are amazing, and provide a great time.
For what it's worth, I'm fine with giving out information, but actually nobody has asked. Other than my name.
Long story short, go for some of the girls from Eros who have a few reviews on here, a lot of them are a fine choice for a first go.
...fortunately for me I'm in a "provider rich environment" (dc). I'll check back in when I'm able to seal the deal.
I posted a similar question on a regional board. I had a very nice provider PM me and explained she would be willing to help me. I won't go into details because she probably made an exception but just look for ones who are willing to be creative to be comfortable.
If you are in a good market you should not have any problems but you will just need some patience.
My thinking at this point is that it might be easier to go through an agency for my first. Or am I completely backwards here?
Of course, if there are any indys in the dc (tysons) area who want to help out a first timer... 
I had an agency turn me down cold until I met with at least one lady. Agencies would have less flexibility as they have a higher volume so they need to be consistent. Whereas an indy can be creative and get comfortable with a client.
After I met with the indy the agency that turned me down let me visit the very next day with the one referral but as it seems with everything in this business YMMV and this is only my personal experience.
Tysons Corner probably has one of the highest concentrations of providers in the country.
You shouldn't have problems finding an indy to see you there as long as you get 3rd party verified.

You're probably going to have to provide an uncomfortable amount of personal info to the first lady you see. And maybe to the second, as many providers will request two references. After doing just that, I have been able to get by with just providing those references, and no longer have to share so much personal info. Of course, you're going to want to see any reference provider at least once a year, in order for them to remember you and be useful as a reference, but variety is the spice of life!
When providing personal info, I prefer to relay it by phone directly to the lady, rather than submit a form on her website. Who knows where the info from that form goes? Could LE or a divorce attorney ever dig that up? I assume anything on the Internet is forever...
Found a responsive indys who is apparently willing to work with me. Exchanged some very brief emails. Hopefully I can seal the deal when she's back in town in a couple weeks
Side note, she's not TER listed, but is well reviewed on bog doggie. Any thoughts on that? (Though she was recommended to me by someone here in the newbie forum)
I ended up going through an agency with a new provider that had gotten a.couple excellent minis and reviews. Ended up being a really good experience. Definitely go with a.well-reviewed girl!

Congrats. I was in the same boat recently. Many years ago, I saw a couple of providers in NZ where this stuff is out in the open. Never hobby here Got a VIP TER account, did my research. Went with an agency and they screened employment. Very good "first" session. Agency also participates in Date Check so they vouched for me afterward. Hopefully it'll be easier to get dates going forward.
