Is it okay

I really hate being rude.  With that in mind, I am a bit worried I may have been a little (or a lot) rude without intending to be to an agency.

Background:  I contacted XYZ Agency in Anywhere, USA and asked if I could see Jane Doe 1 or Jane Doe 2 on XX/XX/XXXX date.

The agency replied that both girls were unavailable on XX/XX/XXXX, which was fine with me, the girls need to have lives too, right?  Then offered a different girl who charges (probably with good reason) significantly more per hour.  I am good with that, I honestly believe a lady charges what she feels she is worth and any act of bargaining on our part is a pretty significant insult.

I replied that I was sure she was very skilled and quite pleasent company, but her rate was more than I was willing to spend this month.  I am saving up for an extended (significantly extended) experience, so I a trying to shove some of my "fun" money aside.

Probably not in those exact words, it was days ago.  I am just hoping I didn't ruffle any feathers.  The agency has one of the most amazing providers I have ever been with (both 9-11 years ago when I was in the hobby the first time, and lately since I have returned to the hobby) and would hate to damage such a relationship.

Anyway, the agency has an account here, perhaps they can take this as apology if I did cross the ettiquette lines into rudeness, or whatever makes the happy if they see this.  For the rest of you, what-chew think?

For the record:  No, I doubt they were trying to up-sell or B&S.

You were simply acknowledging that they were trying to help you find someone, but you are on a budget and for that reason could not take them up on the offer.

It's totally different if you contact a independent provider who has posted her rates and then started to complain that you can't afford them.  That would be bargaining and in most cases, that is a faux pas.

The advantage of an agency girl is that you contact the "scheduler" first to set up the date.  If your girl is not available many agencies will suggest so and so.  You certainly did the right thing by not caving in to their "recommendation", as you had a particular gal in mind.  The other advantage to agency ladies is the ability to negotiate on the fees (without it being directly with the lady).  If you had suggested that you would consider seeing "their alternative" gal, you could/should have suggested at the same price as your options 1 & 2..NOT at the higher price.  And in many instances if the "alternative" is not particular busy...you will then have the option to see a lady at the price you were looking to spend.  If they won't budge on the price...time to move on to the next gal.
