I have setup time with a provider for next week. I did what I feel is the appropriate research and thought things were good.
I have sense found out that this provider who by reputation is one of the best in my city, has had reviews pulled because they were deemed to be "self reviews." The provider still has over 10 reviews, most of which are from reviewers with many reviews, but I am unsure if having reviews pulled screams red flag. Can someone help me out here?
Go with your gut. Sounds ok to me if she has multiple reviews from providers with many reviews. But if you're not completely comfortable, then skip her. There's plenty more out there. For you and for her.
however, everything you read on TER isn't the truth. Lots of dq's and wk's etc. Without knowing any of the facts, if it's true she wrote reviews to get into the top 100, than I'd steer clear. If you're in a big city there should be plenty of providers for you to see. Find another well reviewed provider.

I found out through a message board post on here.
Funny thing is that she was apparently in the TER top 100 providers, but that requires 20 reviews which she now does not have.
I thought self reviews were grounds for banishment (delisting). The fact that she's still here makes me think her self review reports might be all smoke and mirrors.
Are you trying to say she has "low score" reviews pulled? If that's the case, they could very well have been fake. If a provider is caught writing her OWN reviews, she is banned.
They can get delisted, but it's all or nothing. TER may not approve reviews from New Members who have no other reviews & TER has the ability to track ISPs. Apparently Provider / Reviewer having the same ISP triggers the software. Only you can judge what is enough reviews & the creditability of the reviewers from both reviews and board history.
also, i should mention that i have a close friend that is a provider on TER, and a while back she had gotten a fictitious TERRIBLE review by someone I can only assume she never had even met. There was nothing she could do about it, other than get more honest reviews. The bad review is still there to this day, lol... but fortunately it's so different than her other reviews that people don't even give the bad one merit.
It's too bad though that people can't somehow filter out malicious bad reviews. it happens and it's messed up for the provider when it does.
I agree. with my friend that had the malicious false review, whenever people asked, she was more than willing to talk about it, and anyone that ever met her soon found out the truth for themselves. sometimes that's all you can do.
