I use Version internet services which I think  is a pool and the IP address covers a large area making it hard to locate specifically.
is that correct?
Is my computer and location known when I surf the internet?
What about the new new google privacy policy?
Maybe I shouln't use google any more?

If someone has the right technology and knows how to use it, they can pinpoint you pretty easily.  An SO or wife probably isn't going to have the technology or know-how to do it.  If you are trying to hide from LE, well, they do have it and they do know how to use it but they are not supposed to be using for this kind of stuff.

Since passage of the Patriot Act in 2001 virtually all communications in the world are captured and data-mined.  This includes email, phone calls, text messages, etc.  

As technology continues to march forward, privacy has taken a back seat.

do you mean Verizon?  If not, I have never heard of what you're talking about.  I'm no computer expert, but from what I have read and seen, no computer is 100% safe from someone that knows what they are doing, at least in the realm of those of us that are not real computer geeks.

Don't know anything about the new google privacy, so I can't help you there.  But it seems to me you're a little too paranoid about all this.  If you are just careful and discrete, you should have very little trouble.

DO NOT use company equipment or internet to access adult content...  surely against company policies & guys have been fired from 6 figure jobs over this.  
LE is not going to go to the trouble of tracking your location for looking at porn or accessing TER...  argueably legal though your SO may feel differently!  LE DID use internet tracking to locate the apartment building the CraigsList Killer was living in.  (Then used old fashoned survailance to ID him compared to hotel security footage which we all saw on TV.)  So if you are a high value target (a certain Governor comes to mind) or are commiting a felony...  all bets are off.  
If a SO seriously suspects you, you are in deep trouble.  SHE or a PI could survail you or tail you or track you any number of ways.   To avoid this one must not be sloppy in any aspect of this hobby.  When I started, I promised myself I'd not do anything really stupid...  and just reading here I discovered that I'd been LUCKY.  Luck is NOT a PLAN!
