I feel your pain, so here are a few tips.  First of all, you are in the right place and should definitely press on.  You just have lacked the confidence to get beyond the "friends" stage with civvies.  By going with a few providers you will most likely cure that.  Please read the self-help manual, get VIP

You might be happier with a FBSM practioner.  Often available at less cost and has their own unique experience.   It is a good way to "get started", isn't a budget buster.  In my area, I can recieve a generous hour FBSM w/ HE for half the cost of an hour with a provider in the lowest cost tier.
