If you check tracfone's website, they have options available for adding airtime to your tracphone without having to use a computer. I don't own a tracfone, but my friend has one and he adds minutes via his phone using one of those prepaid airtime cards.
I bought a trac phone and signed up using my home. computer. Since then, new technologies have emerged that make it less safe to use it again. Such as that ghost program.
Well, the time has expired now. If I go buy more minutes, what computer should I use to input the data?
Obviously not my work computers. And not the laptop or the desktop my wife and I both use.

I'm not sure what tech breakthrough you're referring to, but theoretically, a Tracfone could be traced to you if you either use a credit card to buy the phone or add minutes, or if you use your computer to register/buy/load minutes. Consequently, I paid cash for my phone and for add'l minutes, and I phone the Tracfone Customer Service line to load them.
If you've already used your computer for any Tracfone transaction, there's no point in trying to cover your tracks (excuse the pun) anymore, unless you throw that phone away and start over again with a new one and a clean slate.
To be really really safe, I've heard you should never use your Tracfone or turn it on on at home, in your car or anywhere you have your regular cell phone or other electronic or GPS device turned on, but I'd rather live dangerously.
Just buy a minutes card from Wal-Mart or wherever with cash and input the number code directly into your phone. If you look through the phone menu there should be an "Add Minutes" screen.
If his time has expired (months, not necessarily minutes), he may not be able to access the Add Minutes function on his phone. I had to call Cust. Service--using another phone, of course--possibly because of the time that had passed since my expiration date.
With either method, no personal info is transmitted to Tracfone, unless you want to get paranoid about them recording the phone you used to call them.

Anybody got any advice?
Thanks!
Walmart/Walgreens/even certain gas stations sell the Tracfone minute cards, starting at 60 min for $20. Either the card itself or the receipt will have a pin code, which you enter directly into your Tracfone. Minutes go on instantly. Just go into your menu options, & you'll see the icon for 'Add Airtime'. No computer needed
You may not ever run into the situation where your online records are searched. Many people focus on LE only. But you might want to protect your identity from others too.
But, if you want to be completely safe you need to buy the phone and cards cash, and never register your reall information.
but it is mine. Yes, minutes can be added direct to the phone.
Your real concern should be not just the TF but the shared computers. Being over protective of electronic gagets can be suspicious too! There is a lot of tracking software out there. Some use an encripted thumbdrive with another browser on it. Never access adult sites with anyone who could walk in. Never turn over a "on" computer... shut it down, by accident if necesary! Years ago, I set up to clear everything on shut down. Having someone hit the history or back button is a very common way of getting caught.
You certainly should not use your business computer equipment or access adult sites through work network... unless you own the company & don't mind IT dept knowing. But why would you give anyone that power over you?
Be security minded. Never use your Credit Card anywhere you should not be.
I've gone a bit off the original Q... hope this helps...
