any suggestions on which is the better experience, having an independant date or a date set up through an agency?

choose an indie  .... do some research and have an incredible time with an indie and save some cash at the same time by not paying out the agency fee, worry about the up sale, bait and switch, right pic wrong girl at the door, etc....... hobby safe hobby well hobby all you can be

I have never paid less for an indie, so I don't know what Spinner was talking about.  The providers charge the prevailing rate they can get, no matter what their infrustructure is.

I like indies because they seem to be more selective, see less people, and are in it because it is agreeable with them.  This can be true with agency providers, but the mix is more tilted toward the desparate or short-termers.

I also like knowing my dollars are going toward the upkeep of the woman directly and not some middle person who just takes money for taking calls.

250 - 350 can get you an incredible indie .... 300 may get a agency to your door ........

We have a couple of fine agencies who play by the rules and deliver the goods as well as any indie.

Generalizations don't work in this case............

Out of the new 52 reviews only 2 are from e bay ... the first her reviews were all over the place and her info page was not complete .. the other had excellent reviews and her info page was complete ... this is my point we the hobbiest still do not know what we are getting in the line of services when we call on an agency ... why take the chance and time in getting someone you may not want or how doesn't perform a service you want .. the pricing was fine.... with an indie you can have contact (via e mail or phone) get everything out in the open before hand, with a service that normally doesn't happen...... my .02

Many agencies have onerous (in my opinion) screening procedures, ranging from wanting employment info to requiring your signature on a 'waiver' before they will allow a provider to meet with you.  Even assuming that the agency itself won't misuse this info, it can all come back to haunt you if LE [law enforcement] ever decides to raid the agency.  Happened recently to a large agency in North Carolina.

This is not to say that indies don't screen (many do, and rightfully so), but my experience has been that they tend to be more reasonable about the types of info they require, as well as more discreet about destroying records after the fact.

Cheers!
