I was the newbie board moderator until admin decided to self-moderate the site. For reasons unknown to me, admin asked me to stay as site host. Why, I have no idea. Maybe they wanted someone to kind of keep peace on this forum and make sure it stayed a friendly board to newbies.
It is true, I have no powers like I did when I was a moderator of this board. I guess admin just wanted someone to this board an informative place where those who are new to the hobby could can ask questions w/o having to worry about being ridiculed or harassed because they did not know certain things about everything works. I try to do that.
If someone makes a post here that I feel may not belong on this board, or is just inappropriate for the newbie's, all I can do is report it to admin, which I will do and have done. Sometimes admin agrees with me, sometimes they don't. It's their site, their rules.
I am always available for private questions as well as public ones if you want a private answer. Feel free to PM me.
Just an FYI, if I post on any other TER forum, my handle is the same as everyone else's. The newbie board is the only one where I am given my own/different color.
Lastly, I would have think the TER members who help me out with their input to questions, as I am not always able to provide replies in a timely fashion. They are my Highly Unpaid Assistants, and their input is very valuable as they sometimes have knowledge of things I do not. Or they are online when I'm not and they are concerned about the new people as I am but I cannot answer in a timely fashion.
