KISS: Keep It Simple and Safe!
Make sure it works with secure browsers, like TOR. E.g., all of CV seems to block TOR and other VPNs. What we do here is not Disney or Yahoo or the NFL. Some guys are browsing while at work or at home with nosy people liable to interrupt them at any moment. Some guys are using "that old PC that no one else bothers with" that can't run the latest version of every program and plug-in.
Use basic tools only, not the cutting edge luxury elements.
NO FLASH!
NO SCRIPTS!
NO pop-ups!
Avoid huge image files that take forever to download or will hang our system.
NO AUTOPLAY audio or video.
For custom websites, I recommend a landing page that says:
Welcome to my website.
Click [here] for the safe, vanilla HTML version.
Click [here] for the fancy, Flash, Java luxury version.
Click [here] for the mobile-friendly version.
I'm sorry that there are so many DON'Ts and fewer DOs.
Do keep it simple and well organized and it will keep us clicking until we actually click.

I'm making a new website. The one on my profile, I never even made or requested, so I have had that deleted to hope to make my own website. Does anyone have any suggestions on where/how to start? What to put/not put? Etc?
