Pay cash for minute cards and don't create an online account for the phone. Or at least use a bogus name and hobby email for the account info. I keep a few hours worth of minutes on mine. Just enough so I don't run out when I need it.
Don't invest too much money in the phone! If something goes wrong in the hobby world and you need to ditch that phone, if it's expensive you may be tempted to keep it. It's better to toss out a few bucks than keep a phone number that LE may have flagged.
including Wal Mart. Pay cash for it, pay cash for the minutes. Keep it off when you're not using it, and locked if possible. Needless to say, keep it in a secure place safe from prying eyes.
I don't have a significant other, so I don't have one, but any hobbyist with a gf or wife, should have a hobby phone. Swim
Your minutes roll over if you renew within the time period. Not that it matters. I must have 400 minutes that I'll never use. I did the online account through my hobby email... it hasn't been a problem but is not the best & I would not do that again. When I registered it, I used a fake name & address. I know some guys keep numbers in their hobby phone with deceptive names attached but I go the other way, clear all calls before I leave her & shut the phone off. I keep it well hidden but if found will give no tracks. (Means I must access the internet to get a number when booking.)
