I'm new to this and have a question

Even if you use protection can you still get a STD?  How likely is this to happen?  Are you less likely to get a STD with a higher priced provider?  Thanks.

Just like in love, STD does NOT discriminate. You can be the highest paid escort in the world, and still catch something, IF you are not protecting yourself. Don't let the dollar signs fool ya.

Just wear a damn jimmy strap and keep it safe.

Condoms are not an absolute protection.  The probabiity of infection goes down significantly with condom use, but there is still a measureable risk.  There was an excellent discussion on this a few months back on the National board.  See the link.

> Are you less likely to get a STD with a higher priced provider?

There is a perception among some hobbyists that high $$$$ means a lower volume of clients for a given provider, hence presumably, lower possible exposure to STDs as well.  I'd take that argument with a grain of salt -- there's no inherent linkage between a provider's pricing and her client volume.  All a higher price shows is that she has achieved a reputation such that she can command a higher fee, or lives in a part of the country with higher average rates.  You need to weigh the risks and practice safe sex regardless.  If the risks seem too high -- then don't hobby.

Cheers!

That most of these ladies are taking very good care of themselves and getting tested more often than active civilan girls.

The way you phrased your question made a couple of us boys jump.  "Even if you use protection..." means you'd consider not using it.  Don't consider it around these boards or you'll get the same flame blown at you over and over.

You may not have meant it that way but who knows...

More money doesn't mean less risk of anything.  The only example not given above is a provider who is a drop dead bombshell and therefore is able to command high prices AND has a huge base of boys.

Low volume doesn't mean less risk either.  It only takes a spark to get a fire going.  I learned that in Pilgrim Fellowship.

Thanks all of you for your replies.

In response to AproviderwithAtittytude -- my thinking was this -- I thought I would have a greater risk by picking up someone off the street in a poor neighborhood than by see a provider in a fancy gold coast apartment.  But, I understand your point. Thank you.

In response to Jockeypants -- no I didn't mean that I would consider not using protection.

What still troubles me is this -- everyone seems to acknowledge that there is a measurable risk, but if you were to put that in terms of a percentage -- would it be 1 out of a 100 times you'd get something, or 1 out of a 1000 times?  Do you know what I mean?

I don't know the numbers like that.  Most of us on the boards are happy with them though, safety wise.

Perhaps for scientific data do a search on the National Board under the author Mathesar (i think I'm spelling his "handle" correctly.)  I'll look as well and post back here if I find what I'm thinking about.

He posts wonderful health related articles and findings.  He put one up with percentages but it was much more complicated than 1 in 100 or 1 in 1000.  Do a search over the last three months or so.  As I say, I'll do the same and see if I can come back with an article for you.

It would seem judging from most of the reviews that guys love to daty, receive a bbbj, and then don a condom for CG or doggie.  Am I wrong in believeing that this doesn't protect either party against STD's except for HIV transmission ?

BBBJ and DATY (and DFK) are relatively minor risks compaired to BBFS and especially BB-Greek.  HIV isn't the only bomb in the shelter you're being protected from with a condom.

If you're freaked about DATY don't do it or lower your risk with dental damns.  If you're freaked about BBBJ use a condom there as well.  There isn't a provider who's gonna complain about that.  But this is biology...it has jucies and micro-organisms...there is a risk with a condom as well.  A HJ from a massage parlor is safe...but what if she didn't wash her hands?  Omigod!  You see what I mean?  We're taking calculated risks here but definately risks every time you interact.

As I said in the previous response, I'll attempt to do a search and come back with some science for us to ponder.

Follow all his subsequent links and you'll have all the facts and figures.

Mostly about HIV but about lots of other stuff.

If you want you can do a search (lower left corner of the screen) on the National Discussion Board.  Type in the author box: Mathesar and fill in the date for 4-28-2004 and you'll find the original discussion.  But follow all his links throughout and it'll lead you to his other discussions and article summaries.  Your head will swim and you won't have sex for a week.  But your quesitons should be addressed.
 Happy reading.
