The first time, it was the hotel's doing mostly. They mailed a copy of the receipt to my home, and included a listing of phone numbers and charges for calls made to the room. The provider had called her home while she was with me. (This was pre-cell phone era.) When my wife saw it she opened it and called the numbers listed on the bill. She had a most interesting chat with the provider.
When I got home, I was the proverbial toast.
She finally let it go after that and I promised to be good, but I wasn't.
The second time came a couple of years later. I was the stupid one this time. I hobbied right in my home town and parked my big red Buick right on Main Street outside the hotel. (Hey, what luck, a parking space!)
My wife came tooling by, saw my car outside the hotel and quickly put two and two together. She went in and asked the desk for my room, showing her ID as my wife. She came up and knocked on the door. I was waiting for the gal to show up so I opened it. Surprise! In Laurel and Hardy timing, my date showed up a minute later.
Yadda, yadda, yadda divorce court, half my life's $, etc.
But I have have something that I never had before: Freedom.
So lessons learned:
1. Don't ever give the hotel your home address, use a business address or a PO Box.
2. Don't hobby in your home town.
I want to get started into this but am scared of the consequences. This is so tempting but could be a career ender for some people.
Is it almost gauranteed that you'll be OK from being LE'd if you were dealing with a reputable agency with a multi page reviewed escort?
any words of wisdom?
Nothing is Guaranteed! With that said if you stick to well reviewed ladies you decrease the chances to a great degree.
I've been doing this regularly for around 35 years, mostly before there were tools like TER to protect ourselves with.
I've seen nearly 200 different gals in that time.
Knock on wood, but I've never been close to having any trouble with LE.
The real threat is to your marriage (assuming you have one.)
I was careless and got busted twice there, now I'm divorced. It's a mixed bag, but I'm not complaining either.
As for the third worry: STDs, I've never had any problems with that from providers.
When I was single long ago and civie dated, I got three different STDs from dating about 7 different women.
How's those odds for you?
What a blessed, venerable record. But how'd you get busted, if i might ask?

No way!! Crazy stories! I'm sorry to hear you got caught, but then again, you don't seem too upset about it.
I think hobbying in your own town should be okay, if you live in a big city, that is. I'm in New York, so I can take a cab to an independent provider (I've only seen independents, and always go to their apartment). Therefore, my car isn't around for anyone to see.
And if you find a provider in a pretty big building, if, heaven forbid, someone saw you outside, you could say you're visiting a friend. That's much easier to believe than if you're seeing a provider in a hotel/motel.
Just my two cents...
where pretty much all the hotels are.
In New York, you'd be OK going over to the next neighborhood. For example, if you life near Central Park West, you can always head over to Times Square, or the Upper East Side. Each of those neighborhoods is larger that most cities in the US.
My philosphy has always been to turn lemons into lemonade.
Its never failed me yet.
That was quite a story to tell!!! But sorry you learned the lessons hard way...

ladies and you should not have any problems with LE or discretion (work). If you see a lady who might want to blackmail you because she knows you are the governor of NY, then you take your risks.
proper safety protocols, then your chances of getting caught by LE is quite low.
Only see well reviewed providers (that's 15 positive reviews, the more the better).
I would stay far away from agencies. If the LE is going to target someone, it's going to be them, not independents. It's not worth their time to target independents, but bringing down an agency can make headlines. If the agency goes down, then you're personal info can be handed over to the authorities.
I agree, you run a far greater risk getting into trouble with your SO. If you don't know how to be sneaky, then don't attempt this.
I've had a few close calls myself before with my SO, but only from stepping away from my laptop without closing a webpage first.
1) if you are a superstar at what you do it won't end your career.
2) if you are careful (well reviewed indies or anal retentive agencies that actually screen and are not run by client or provider amateurs) you'll be OK.
as for yourself... consider whether you are extortable or not. are you so tough that you can call the bluff of someone who wants to put the bite on you? or would you be tempted to cave in?
the answer to that question can set the degree to which you can tolerate risk, the degree to which you must play safe.
if you are extortable: do not be seen in public with a provider or at least do not take her to a place where you can be seen by friends or acquaintences.
if you are not extortable: do as you will and enjoy.
BTW: i'm not... so i have a helluva lot of fun.
