If it is a reliable reference then I have no problem with a gentleman using it, regardless of when the last time was.

If the reference is still in the business and is established then I feel it is an acceptable reference... kisses ~Tori

That is, is there some unwritten rule that you shouldn't list a reference that is more than a few months old?  Also, when asked for more than one reference, can those be from the same agency (and phone number) or should they be different?  And finally, should you call to make sure the agency or is okay with you using them as a reference?

One of my commonly used references is from a lady whom I saw two or three times several years ago, but I usually still list her because she is well-known in the hobby community.

Multiple references from the same agency will likely be considered by most providers as a single reference.

You should always get permission from a lady (or agency) before using them as a reference.

Unfortunately, there is no correct answer.  Every lady is different.  I personally will not take a reference that is older than 6-7 months old.

Also, many, many  ladies will not take agency references ( I only take a select few agency references since I know and trust their screening procedures). Sometimes, an agency doesn't give indys references.  Ask them before you use them as a reference :)

It's a good idea to let the lady know that you might be using her as a reference.  I give references out all the time for gents.  Most let me know that they might be using me as a reference in the future or send me a little note letting me know that they have used me as a reference :)

Missy, will you put in a good word for me???

There is this lady ask for my reference. She wants my work number. since this my first time, I don't have anything else. Is it safe to give out work number to provider? Thanks a lot.

I'd say if possible use independent ladies for your references as agencies are often reluctant to give references (I've never managed to get a reference out of an agency).

It's polite to ask first and make sure she remembers you.  Personally, I don't mind if the references are quite old, as long as I'm satisfied they are reliable.

Alright Carrie, but for now I'm having a blast with the girls in this one agency, so the independent ladies around here will have to wait a little.  LOL.

I know of 4 agencies here in ATL that give refferals all the time to me, and I to them.
tyvm,P.T.

P.S. Sometimes independants just cant work with eachother well and the better response is from people that know how to share. Agency's.
