I'm going to be a first-time hobbyist in Vegas next month. While I have read every FAQ I can find and understand how I should act (underlined:discreet), how can I assure my date that I am a gentleman? Perhaps equally important, how can I prove to her I don't have any LE affiliation? What do I do since I can't give any "provider" references?

You don't mention if you have already made the date with the provider.  Assuming you have, it's easy in Vegas.  They will ask you to produce an out-of-state drivers license and an airline ticket to go home.  Voila.

If you haven't yet made the date, you will probably go through some screening process which will include home phone, where you work, etc.  This topic is extensively discussed on this board and the National Board, including a very long and current thread.  I suggest you read it.
