Yes, you are correct, but unfortunately you can not ignore an alias, either on the discussion boards or the TER PM system.

If Gemma's harasser is doing so from behind an alias she will have to ignore him/her the old fashioned way, by simply ignoring the PM's on her own.

That only works if the person you're trying to ignore is a handle, not an alias.

You can't ignore an alias, which is too bad.  But if aliases could be ignored it would be an easy way to "out" them.
