There are always stings going on in some part of the country and I am sure people in the particular area have concerns. I have never heard of nationwide stings, and this is a national board. I am unaware of any stings in my area currently. You may be better to post on a regional board.

However since this is the newbie board and your question can be considered a newbie question, my general answer is that we should all have sone degree of concern, as this is a rusky activity, but there is no need to be paranoid. Providers need to screen well. Clients need to do their homework and research well.

Lesson for newbies is Do Your Research!  As perfectstorm said stings are going on somewhere all the time.

The FBI joint task force led by Cook Cty Sheriff does large multi-city stings about twice a year.

They use children and trafficking of course as the excuse and may make 1000 arrests in 10-20 major cities of which 10 may be under age and maybe 1 "alleged" pimp.

But it is a huge money raiser to go after private consenting adults.

In Phoenix we have ongoing stings and about twice a year project R.O.S.E. a huge fund raiser for the Catholic Group and local "save the prostitutes" groups - one reportedly raised $2 million in donations to fund their "save the hooker" fairs.

The police proudly to the roundups - reports of police units filled with ads and reviews with pictures to ID private  companions.  If website even says GFE, that is all that is needed for a solicitation arrest in AZ no further contact needed.

They are given option of being drivin to jail and their mugshot will be on line in a few hours, or taken to the "hooker fair" at Bethony Church and not arrested if enter their "diversion" program on all the horrors of being a prostitute.

Usually after the round up big feather on local TV how great these organizations are to save the prostitutes and is great fund raiser for the groups and lots of political support for hard core prosecutor to "clean up crime" in Phoenix.

If you work with another escort, have a driver, massage parlor etc or sometimes if you running your own "house of prostitution" with just yourself you get charged with a criminal enterprise felony (and usually more than one)

If you have your pictures on an escort or massage website even if no prostitution related charge you are charged with "association with a criminal enterprise" felony.

We have had a number of large massage parlor busts and 38 from the Phoenix Temple where it is estimated the County ha already spent about $1 million with huge investigation, army like assault of 38 swat team on Temple and those that won't plead to a felony deal, are facing new indictments which if found guilty could mean 10-20 years in prison.  The alleged offense is maybe handjobs were offered as part of spiritual practices although almost no evidence of this being done other than by maybe 2.  But everyone is a felon solely due to the "association" with a "criminal enterprise"

In a large massage parlor bust cases took about 2 years to all get settled.  One leader took a plea deal long ago for a year or so in prison, the 2nd didn't, was convicted and committed suicide just before sentencing hearing.

Nationwide LE is learning from Phoenix how to get grant money, save the hookers, and make a conservative political statement of making their cities safe from hookers.  Always using the fake premise of its about children and trafficking - which does occur - but is very rare vs in private consenting adult sexwork - legal in almost all the world with no big issue except the U.S.
