I also suggest introducing yourself on your local regional board. You can post an ad once every 7 days on your local regional ad board. You can also post pics on the daily photo board. By posting on your local regional board, guys will get an idea of your personality. As mentioned above, the self help center will give you a good head start on the workings of this site.
