Do a lot of studying about this business before you set off, especially on the subject of screening clients.

This board and others on TER have a wealth of information on the topic.

Also, you'll find a link on here to the Newbie Manual.  I suggest reading it thoroughly.  It's a good primer on the hobby in general, and how to use TER in particular.

Best wishes.

This is the first I have looked up information on becoming an escort. Does anyone have any tips, or stories of their own beginning experiences to share?

The newbie manual, as it's commonly called, is the 'self help center'.  It's link is under the life preserver at the top of this page.  That is an excellent place to start.  This forum has answered many questions about all phases of the escort/hobby business, and will continue to do so, as long as questions are asked.

If you have any specific questions, this is the place to ask.  I am the host of this board, but many others help out with useful information and answers to questions every day.

What is a TER "white" membership? Is this VIP?

there is the whitelist.  This is where the provider's give you their recommendation, so that other providers will know you are OK to see.  It is not the same as VIP membership.  It's just a list at the bottom of your  list of reviews.  The provider who gave you the referral will have her name on that list, along with when she gave you the referral.

What the other two old-timers above say are excellent suggestions and if you're going to put that sort of energy into this, go the whole nine and spring for the VIP membership!  The advanced search benefits and full reviews are SO worth what I would see as a minimal expenditure, especially if you're planning on using the info you glean here.  Like I've said before, being not this site and not having a VIP would be like paying for trip to a foreign country and not springing for a good guide book!  They're both designed to do the same thing: help you get the best out of a new experience!

Try googling “how to be an escort?” you will be surprised at how much info is out there. Of course you have to take it with a grain of salt, as not all of it is “good” information. But there are some blogs written by escorts and things like that which do give out some good info. There are also books on escorting.

Reading up and asking questions here on TER will get you a lot of information. Getting the VIP as corwin suggested is a good idea. We always tell newbie hobbyists to get VIP so they can do the proper research, but it is also a good idea for newbie providers. It will give you access to the PM system, so you can PM other ladies and get advice. It will also allow you to read reviews so you can see what the other ladies are doing being closed doors. Of course a lot of reviews are embellished by the writers, so again take it with a grain of salt, but reviews do have good information for a gal starting out. If you are worrying about credit card paper trails, there is a cash method to pay for VIP membership. If you proceed into the field and eventually get reviews, you can actually get free VIP, but it is limited,. It still gets you access to PMs, and allows you to read your reviews, but not the reviews of other ladies. I would still highly suggest you pay for the VIP for now.

It sounds like you are doing the right thing by doing research before getting into this. There are many things to consider.

1)Do you really want to do this?
2)Are you going to do it part time or full time?
3)Will you be providing in your home town or away?
4)Will your family know? Will they be supportive? Or is it a secret? How well can you keep that secret?
5)Will you show your face in your ads, or remain discreet? (remember once on the internet, it is there forever.
6)Will this profession come back to bite you in the ass in the future? Is it something you can live with?
7)What type of services will you provide? FBSM only? Safety girl (everything covered)? BBBJ? Kissing? DATY? Greek? PSE? GFE?
8)What are the other ladies in your area charging for the same services? How will you set your rates?
9)Who will you be marketing to?
10)STDs. Know about them. Know the risks. Decide how much risk you are willing to take. And get tested frequently.
11)Screening: Probably the most important thing. Learn how to screen your clients and stay safe!

That is not a complete list, but those are some things you should give serious thought to. Hopefully some ladies chime in to help you.

Good Luck

Let me know.  There are a couple of ladies out there including myself who would be willing to answer questions so feel free to email if you'd like.  Another thing to consider is do you want to be an independent or join an agency?  Both have their pros and cons and an agency is more newbie friendly than working independently.  However if you can find someone to show you the ropes or can gather enough information off the Internet then you can do well as an independent too.

I love it, and ask some local providers in your area if your still interested!
