I've had three "new" client No-shows on me this week. One already had cancelled on me once and stated that he'd make sure he wouldn't cancel on me today. Well, guess what?  He was late by 20 minutes so I thought to myself, "Well, at least he's not early."  But then, I thought, I bet this bugger has No-showed on me, so I called him on his cell phone (which I would never do unless this situation occured). Now, he had no references (but he did have a website with pictures, etc, and said he was willing to show his I.D.), and I allowed this guy to see me. I called him and said that I couldn't believe he did this to me again.

He said he text me a message. Well, I don't do text messages and I tell him that in my directions page I give my phone number. I checked my texts on my cell phone and guess what? No text messages. Well, I was very polite and calm (but firm) when I spoke with him and gently insisted that if he didn't see me today that there would be a post on the Provider Board and Newbie Board not to see him. He said he could be here in a couple of hours.   We'll see what happens.

I spoke with him last week when he canceled on me the day of the appointment and told him that we take our business very seriously, too. He said, "I would be pissed, too, if someone canceled on me with my hectic schedule."  Well, HELLO! What about us providers who don't take other appointments because of your appointment, and especially if we're low-volume providers?  Friggin' jerk!  Sorry, just venting. I won't mention his name. Not cool.

I just thought I'd post since this is becoming a recurring problem with newbies. I'm sure a lot of newbies on TER are wise to this and wouldn't do this, but please be aware that we take our business very seriously and schedule time, primp and clean for you guys.

of course I understand that a newbie is more likely to get cold feet at the last minute. A risk a lady takes when scheduling them. They may also not know the etiquette, etc. It's good of you to give them a chance. But the new guys here really need to take a lesson....

There really isn't an excuse. I told him on the phone, by email and on my website what I expected from him. Of course, he said he'd do anything to see me, except he doesn't take this seriously. So, I'm trying to be polite, even though I want to bite his head off at the door (no pun intended).

My three came in the last month!!

I really am sorry for you. I can honestly say I know how you feel, but for different reasons. Yours is lost revenue as mine is feelings of disappointment. My ladies were well reviewed but two of them were last minute, which means I had no back up plan.

The only thing is my ladies (at least two of them will make it up to me), still haven't heard from the 3rd.

But, being a newbie once, I will say thank you for giving some of us a chance. My first lady was well reviewed and took a chance on me. I've rewarded her with repeat business and Wed. will be taking her a X-mas card with some green in it (dont' have time for a real visit, so yes this is a gift in the true form) for her to spend on her daughters X-mas!

I expect a provider to keep her appointments.  I DO keep mine.  To not properly notify is just plain RUDE & there's no excuse for RUDENESS.  I agree that males (I will not call them "gentlemen" because they're not) who NCNS make it harder for everyone.  
NO, he does not take his appointments seriously & I'd not waste any more time on him.

He said the first time, "I had a meeting." Please . . . I know about meetings, and most are not at 7 p.m at night on a weekend (which I don't usually work weekends -- another thing to be pissed off about). Today, he was flying back from Las Vegas (yet he mentioned yesterday that he was getting off of work early today in Peoria). Do these guys think we're idiots?

I don't mind seeing newbies but I try to feel them out a lot. If they were to NCNS the first time then I wouldn't reschedule another date them.
I know you want to bite his head off. Here's the problem though. The date is going to totally suck for both of you, if he shows, because he's scared of the repercussions you stated. And you're pissed off.
Newbies get cold feet and the sweats before knocking, or they sit terrified in the parking lot unable to call. Guilt sets in quickly before they even get to your place.
My suggestions is to not take on multiple newbies in a week. One here another there won't kill you if they no-show.
Just a thought. That's what I tend to do and it's worked well so far.

Funny, as a very recent first timer, I was more scared of the repercussions of not showing up than I was of knocking. It seemed to be "do it now or never be allowed to". But yeah, I can attest to the cold feet. But to not show up twice in the same week... just bad manners (or bad parenting).

As a "newbie", I truly appreciate being given the opportunity to participate in The Hobby. I suspect that people who are inconsiderate to you are likely inconsiderate in lots of other situations as well. We're not all like that.

for being a bit more skeptical of noobs when:

you don't have the established history / references

and

as a group you are statistically more likely to NC/NS.....

That being said, everyone has to start somewhere. Many of the ladies remember this, and some especially enjoy breaking in new guys '

I'm new and I have my first ever meeting this friday...but if i get cold feet i'd at least call 24hrs in advance. I'm more worried about Le than i'm meeting the provider even though i've dotted my I's and crossed my T's..she is well reviewed, i just keep trying to picture myself walking into the location...so surreal

But I do thank you for being so sweet as to take the time to give me advice.  I've been in the business for quite awhile and never had this happen with so many since this month and year. I wasn't asking for opinions on what to do, but merely venting and letting newbies know they cannot do that to someone.

Actually, I am super professional and I saw him anyway. I've kept appointments even after hearing about a death in the family. I didn't want my house cleaning and made-up appearance to go to waste. He would have never known I was pissed off, but I did let him know that he cannot do that again.  Also, I didn't say he did a No-show the first time, but he canceled the same day. That -- along with him saying he left me a text message -- is the only reason I told him I'd still see him. On my website, it even says that I allow for a few cancellations, but I will not allow for sorry-assed excuses.

I know you've been around in the biz like me for awhile and it takes a lot of swallowing the annoyance to deal with it. Personally, I think you're venting was great and makes a huge point to newbie.

Have a provider that you have seen before check to see if you are blacklisted or have a bad review some place. Believe it or not there are private sites out there where providers get to rate hobbyists and review them just like you review them.

You mean providers blacklist us like we do them? Fking ipiffany.

i am ralatively new to the hobby myself and i can say that for my first appointment i was 30 mins early and was a nervous wreck. I've been in crazy situations but the jitters i felt there were ridiculous. I don't think you should bother with that Poor excuse for the word Gentleman but speaking for the rest of us noobs give us  a chance you might find some great friends.

I hope this guy realizes his errors in judgement and makes it up to you.  Otherwise, you have no recourse but to leave him alone for a cold shower.

I've had one guy state quite sweetly that not all newbies are like other jerks who Nc/Ns. My original post stated in my last paragraph that not all newbies will do this and have common sense, right? And, another post in response to another board asking me if I was still mad about this post. Now that was condescending, since I'm not a little girl having a temper tantrum. I think I write fairly well, nor do I carry my feelings from one post to another. Anyone who interprets something that is just not there, then perhaps they need some cognitive shock therapy -- which I will happily apply to their weeny and get them going again.  

I do think I want to continue to post on this board. However, the insight some wish to learn from others does not compute on the screen at times. You can post something that is meant to steer them away from trouble, but their response is that it is taken that it means everyone. I think some should reread my initial post. The first part was a rant and a very worthy rant. The second part was about what I told the guy not to do but still saw him -- gave him a chance to prove himself and I was still professional.

Most importantly, I even mentioned in the last paragraph that not all newbies with TER work like this and have common sense and -- hopefully -- good manners. I still believe it was important to post this, because it's very obvious there are still a lot of noobs that still don't take our advice.  I suppose the next thing one will be asking me is if I'm PMSing? Now that would be condescending, eh?  Don't you just quander over the love/hate triangle with people sometimes?  NOT.

Some of us have a higher I.Q., more educated, certainly have some street smarts and experience in life. Unfortunately, because of some egos, a few will still misconstrue what other says, and they will only hear the tainted version in their own minds,nor will they be able to see the big picture. We are here to give advice, newbies. So, please listen to some valuable information that could keep you out of trouble in the future. For those of you who listen and use common sense, then this wasn't about you -- obviously.

Good luck to all of you out there.  It's a fun world, but you're going need a lot of luck without our education. Now, if you'd like to lick lady luck . . . well . . . I am part Irish.

I went through with it and I just got home...it pretty much went flawless meeting at the hotel and I'm quite satisfied...i will sleep so good tonight...not so bad not so bad at all....another newbie graduated....
