I just googled my user name and my posts and reviews came up in the hits. I would have thought that info would have been blocked by TER. Is there anyway to block that?

What you can do is ask TER to change your handle to something that might not link back to you. Assuming that is the issue.

those services are expensive, and they are erratic.  I believe if you got an alias from TER your alias would show up on google after you began posting.  What is the downside for you to having your user name or TER handle show up on  google anyway? I'm assuming your legal name isn't bigreddog70.  So how can googles that show up bigreddog70 trace back to you? How many people know you in your personal life as bigreddog70?  So I'm not understanding the "stigma" that concerns you.

You really only have two options.  The first is to stay off the boards.  The second is to use a specific user name for your board activities on sites such as TER.  Don't use the same handle for any other sites that you visit.  You TER handle will still show up in a google search but it wouldn't be connectable to other activities that you are involved in.

The fact is, on the internet, anonymity is relative.  It's all down to how careful you are about not leaving a trail by which others can connect the dots.  You'd be surprised at how many people don't worry about that sort of thing until it's too late.

thats what i was going to say. it would take an extreme lack of intelligence to make your user name on a site like this something that would let people know it is you behind the name. you think anyone in the world has ever called me kweezy? or that 619 has any importance? no way

I have never used this handle for any other website and I guess that I am just a little paranoid about anything coming up so easily on google. Google can be your best friend or worst enemy. Thanks for your replies.
