Reading reviews, DATY and BBBJ seem to be just about standard with most providers.   Even CIM is not that uncommon.    I'd really like to try that, especially DATY, but I'm worried about STDs.   So what is the deal, are all those public health messages just for prudes?    Or is there some secret sauce that providers use to stay clean?      Or should I expect that most providers that offer that are probably not clean.

Typically, the chances of getting STD from DATY or BBBj is small to nominal; however, the established providers from this site do take precautionary measures to protect themselves from STDs. However, I can't vouch for the BP or other routes. Even with those measures that the providers do take, its up to you to do what you are comfortable with.

If you are interested in trying those things, it is best to do it with someone you are comfortable and established a relationship with. That way, the provider can take it slow with you until you build the courage to try more stuff. Also, you should still get check even if you go through the safe route as well

As such, it is frequently discussed on this board.  You can do a search for this to read many varied opinions on both sides of the fence. Do your own research regarding oral transmission of STDs/STIs.
   
In the end, only you can decide whether or not the risk is worth the reward.

Yup, for just about everything, we face greater risks.

Oral transmission rates are lower than for regular sex, but who is more likely to catch something? The woman! However, if she does catch something, she can pass it on even though that's considered quite rare (and to be honest, the stats are really terrible... because most don't ONLY engage in oral so the numbers are kind of hand-waving estimates).  You have to decide what you're comfortable with.  

DATY for a man is one of the safer sex acts, and to make it safer, get the HPV vaccine.

...I weighed the small risk and decided that it was worth it. Each person has to decide for themselves how much risk they can accept. If you find yourself up nights worrying aboit it and constantly gargling, it might be time to reassess this hobby. It's definitely not for everyone.
