I made it my policy to restrict reviews as a result of a bad experience where I was outted in college and had them quoted back to me. Now that its been several years, a different state, a different life.. I've been dabbling in the hobby again and although I find interested parties, some are reluctant without reviews. I'm happy seeing very few clients, so I don't necessarily need or want the uptick in visibility and hence traffic that reviews will give me, but I do want to be able to assure future clients of a positive experience. Should I stick to my guns here, or allow a handful of reviews, or just go ahead and lift my restriction completely? I'd really like a variety of opinions here.
As long as you are patient I think you will, over time, find as much business as it sounds like you are looking for. Over the last six or seven years I see or have seen three UTR ladies and all of them have managed to be as busy as they wanted to be. Now, I'm talking one or two customers a week accomplished with no reviews and little to no advertising. Everyone chooses a different path. Some of the gals I'm talking about had reviews and had them taken down while others have never had any. TER and reviews are not the only way to be successful as an escort.
So if you don't want reviews, then tell the clients you don't want them.
It will, of course, make it harder for you to book, but many providers get bookings through private emails and PMs between clients. I can tell you that the best discoveries I have made have been through other hobbyists who give information via emails and PMs.
I was eager at first to get reviews, because I thought it was the way to get business in this online thing (formerly, I wasn't online). And I have had some fun reviews. I am not so sure having them has increased my requests, however... and there is something disconcerting about having your repertoire splayed across the 'net for everyone to see. So I go back and forth. Maybe I will continue to build a nice number- say 10 or so- and then stop... and just ask someone to review me once every 6 months or something like that.
Maybe get a review or two to start with, and then one per year- just to keep yourself visible? A happy in-between?
I am so sorry to read about your having been outed in college. How awful! I am glad you've come out the other side and continue to do what you want. I can't even imagine what that would have been like for me.
Seems like the best providers are not the ones who go all out on reviews. They are selective about their clients as well as their reviews.
I wonder about one thing - why even consider this if you are as busy as you want to be? My guess is that you are a little concerned, probably with how long it might take to replace a client or two if you lost them. In that case I would stick with the public no-review policy, but ask some friends you trust to write reviews so that you get 3 or 4, and then get a new one every 3 months or so. Of course, this only works if you are doing a good job - unhappy guys are less likely to respect your no-review policy and you can't enforce it so well once you have a profile and reviews up here.
