Should hobbyists get periodically checked for STDs even though they have no symptoms (at least that we know of)?  I sometime engage in activities such as DATY and using no condom.  How can I go about getting tested  anonymously?  I assume that for routine blood work, STDs are not checked for.

There are STD's that don't have immediate symptoms - AIDs for instance. All sexual contact has risk of transmitting STD's, including using condoms. A sperm is a lot larger than a virus, and women still get pregnant with condoms.

Googls STD testing, and lots of options will show up. When you are having your annual checkup, you can ask your Doc to order STD testing.

Didn't they teach you that in school. Some STD's are not visible. You may have them and there will never be any physical symptoms. Some STD's have incubation periods, and will not take affect until several months later after you have it it.

You have to be honest with your doctor. You have to tell him or her that you want to check for ALL types of STD's including HIV and AIDS. They will collect a urine and a blood sample. With the urine sample, they can usually do it in the lab or ship it to another lab, and the results are within several days, usually about 4 or so days.

The urine test however will only detect some STD's, and not all. The blood test however will test for all STD's including HIV and AIDS. The result from the blood test will take longer, usually its about 7 days or more. For my doctor, he'll personally call me if I am positive for anything after he finds the results, which prevents me from seeing him and picking up the results.

If you have a family doctor, you can just be tested by him/her. If it turns out you have something, the doctor can advise you on what medications, an or other treatments you can take, to get rid of the std, or learn how to live with it and stay healthy.

You won't have to worry about other people finding out, because a doctor can not release your medical information, unless you become a serial rappist and get a arrested, then it becomes the victims right to know.
