How to get tested...

OK, do you just go to your Primary Care and ask for an STD panel? How about if you share the PC with your SO?

Select a new PC? Order one of the online tests

Option 1) Www.talenttestingservice.com there's clinics all around you who work with them. You fill out the info online. Make a payment, and then look for the nearest clinic who works with them, and they will send the request to that clinic. You go, and they will draw the blood and send it to their labs. They do full panels, and you see the results online in 2 to 3 days tops.

Option 2: planned parenthood. Most clinics do everything except the test for herpes. You can pay cash, and they are discrete that they will not mail you anything that may indicate that you visited them, and you can pay cash too. They have the rapid HIV testing which is free (other clinics charge for it which I think is bs).

Option 3) your physician: probably the option you least want if you have a partner who may eventually find out you are getting tested.

Hope you find the info useful.

Be prepared to give a burner phone number and to avoid personal contact info. Another option in some cities is gay clinics, which may be more sensitive about discretion. Dont get concerned about any stigma that you might perceive in going to a gay clinic; they help all kinds of people and are not judgmental.

I feel like such a stickler with the political correctness... sorry.

Planned parenthood does ask for your ID, but I dont see why you say it like its a problem? they ask you questions prior giving your your results. They are questions about your sex life, which you can easily opt out from answering. Planned parenthood does not mail anything to you, so showing your ID is really not a problem. Even when you use talenttesting, and you go to the your blood drawn, they also ask you for your ID. So you really can't escape that part of the process.

LGBT clinics are also an option. But that is almost like going to your current doctor. They will ask for your insurance info and such. That's why I didnt suggest LGBT clinics. Because you seem to want discretion, rather than a clinic who will not judge at all, but will want all your insurance info, and will most likely mail you the invoice and stuff. good luck.

At the particular Planned Parenthood that I went to a few years ago, I was asked to fill out forms that wanted my full name, home mailing address, phone number, etc and I'm not sure by I think they wanted an alternate contact person, name of spouse, etc. I was standing at a receptionist window and the lady kept asking me questions and using my name in front of a room full of other people. When I got to the blood testor, she grilled me about my sex experiences. Plus, I had to walk past a bunch of religious nut protesters in order to get into the building and everyone including the people inside gave me the hairy eyeball.

At the LGBT clinic that I go to periodically they handed me a bunch of forms to fill out off to the side, and the forms did ask for much of the same info but I just left them blank or inserted shall-we-say creative answers except for my real burner phone number, and I gave accurate answers about my sex experiences, and no one grilled me on my written responses. The only catch was when I was called in for the blood test on one visit the testor asked me to verify my birth date and I had to guess twice in order to remember the bs date that I had provided.  :-) Nobody gave me the hairy eyeball, but I kind of scoped the room and tried to guess who was there for what reason (some looked pretty low down like maybe drug users; some I speculated were street walkers).

Sorry about calling it a gay clinic, that's what they were called back in the day. Showing my age. I hope that GaGa won't be too hard on me.  :-

I've used this one.  No ID required, you can pay through the mail with a money-order or pay with a gift-card so it's completely anonymous.  Pick any of 4500 testing centers near you, it's quick, easy and you get an ID number to check your results online or via phone. You can pick which range of tests you want, $209 covers a full-range, or you can pick individual tests as needed for less.  The early detection HIV test is available for an additional charge. They are very professional, fast and efficient, and access to a counselor by phone is included if you need it.

If you share a PCP with your SO, schedule an appointment alone. The doctor can't breach confidentiality on that to your SO.

A consent. So I wouldn't worry about it. Usually places don't call you if there's nothing wrong. And they would never release information without your consent to a 3rd party. So I wouldn't stress it. If worse comes to worse why not go to Plan Parenthood they are extremely discreet and will ask you questions in regards to calling you and how should they identify themselves if someone other than you answers the phone.

Hope that helps

You walk in with cash. You fill out the form with a completely fictitious name and address. Then you either get your instant test (which takes about 20 minutes) or get your blood drawn. In the case of the latter, you leave with a receipt that has a number on it. You return in a week with your receipt and pick up your results. Easy-peasy and completely anonymous.

Many people believe their health info is kept confidential by law. The law most folks think is doing this for them is HIPPA. My advice is...read it! When you visit your doctor they give you a copy. It is only like two pages and not difficult reading. Pay close attention to the last couple paragraphs. And here is another little tidbit. If you are tested and come back positive for any type of STD (or TB and a few others), this info is forwarded to the CDC. Don't take my word for it...do a little research.

...and all healthcare providers are required by law to report all cases of HIV, albeit anonymously.  Other STIs are also reported anonymously as well.

I do agree that PP is discreet, as are all of the LGBTQ clinics i've been to for testing.
