I've contacted a provider who is VERY well reviewed and is active on one of the regional boards here, so I feel pretty safe with my choice for my first time. I've volunteered the info she has requested for screening and am waiting for her to get back to me.
My question is, she does not post rates on her website. Is there an appropriate time to ask about this before the appointment? I've gotten a pretty good feel for what providers in her area are charging, but there always seem to be outliers and there is definitely a figure I don't want to exceed.
You could check her reviews although the rate she has on her profile might not be current. So as you don't get sticker shock, you have every right to ask upfront. A polite..."What is the consideration for xxx of your time? You don't have any information on your website."
I can't imagine her getting upset if there is no mention of fees on her site. The best of luck.
you should feel free to inquire about rates "for her time" even upon first contact. After all, she wouldn't want to have her time wasted screening you if it turns out she is out of your price range.
Just make sure you looked thoroughly on her website first. Sometimes, crucial information is not well placed. Some providers will get peeved if you inquire about info that they have already posted, even if it is hard to find.
