I did this when I was getting verified by P411. I told the people in my office to expect a phone call for an employment verification. I had worked it out with them to act as a bank and they were simply asking if I worked there. I have also used this tactic with providers who were double checking my info. If you give you office a heads up then it really removes a lot of suspicion. I have even seen it posted on some providers websites where they ask you what pretense they should use when calling your work.

I know it's a standard practice but not sure how it works.  I work in a small office so I am concerned about privacy obv.  Any advice would be much appreciated!

They will call for you with some innocent reason, to see if you really do work there.  They will maybe pretend to be a Dr.'s office verifying or confirming an appt, nothing more.  Once they know you really do work there, that's it.  It's just to determine that you are not uncle LEO.

You can be sure the provider or agency you contact has their tactics as far as doing that in a discreet way, one swim described for you.

Through my experiance, my gut feeling anyway through my experiance, is that some won't even bother to call your work they just will verify online whether it is a valid number or not. Some can even call you when your at your desk or work phone. They just want to establish that you are safe to see.

I have only had one occasion where I even heard about someone who called for me at my work that was a verification call and it was not an issue.

If your not one that gets many calls at your office for you then you might want to see if there is any other way the agency/provider will be able to verify you, many will have other ways. If not you will just have to decide whether the worry from the phone call will be worth seeing her or not.

Again though, if you see a well reviewed provider you can probably assume they know what they are doing and no one at your work will know who she really is.

There are many ways to do it - all can be very discreet. If you're overly concerned, as the other poster stated, set up a scenario for the provider to call under - all we really want to do is make sure you are who you are telling us you are - good luck!

If you're not a member of P411 you might want to consider it as this could avoid more calls to your employer.

Have fun & play safe!
