First time at this, and I've been reading lots of it, and wondering about meet&greet: How do you find out about them and "register" or whatever is required to attend? Sounds like a safe way to get a n introduction to this process. Thanks.
How do find about them? - regularly visit your regional board and the Meet & Greet board.
How to get invited to the party? - Ask and provide the neccessary info. I'm sorry, but first timers aren't usually welcome. Given the nature of the gathering, it's assumed that everyone needs to be be vouched for by someone there. Screening is done.
Unless you are active in the local community, or have a record elsewhere, I wouldn't expect an invite. M&G's aren't the place for newbies to introduce themselves.
If you are fortunate enough to get an invite, definitely go! It is so much better if you can meet the ladies in person. I have met ladies at M&G's that I never would have booked an appt. with based on her website, but they were great in person. I have also met ladies where I was damm glad I never was able to book an appt. Also nice to meet other hobbyists that you chat with online.
