First time...

Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but this is my first time here on TER and I have never been with a provider before. It seems like there is some sort of screening in order to book an appointment with a provider, is there anything I need to know before hand? I am going to be totally honest and say that I am real shy and extremely nervous about contacting the provider. Can any providers give me some insight on their perspective when talking to a "first" timer. This might sound like I am over doing it, but this is my first time so I would like the first time to be a positive/memorable experience. Thanks

When you first click on Discussion Board, then after you click on the subject "Newbie" or "General Discussion", look to the middle of the page on top of the "new thread" button, there is a link that says "Self-Help Center". Click on that, and you will find many useful threads for newbies and hobbyist alike, even one pertaining to your question. Have fun, and chose a well known provider with many positive reviews for you first time, hey, its your first time, so enjoy it with a credential provider. Enjoy!!

you do some homework first.  Read the self-help guide and at least five pages of this board.  Re your screening question, especially read posts re screening issues for first-timers.  If you join a screening site like P411 you can use their system to contact "newbie friendly" providers first by e-mail.  That way, there doesn't need to be a conversation first.  If she's truly newbie friendly, meaning you don't have to have any referrals, she'll be used to dealing with nervous newbies so you won't have to worry.  Good luck.  The learning experience is worth it.
