I got 98% of my business from Craig's List ads! And as you know the adult section is now closed down.

I have gotten some advice on other places to advertise via people from this site(thanks allure!) I have made ads on cityvibe.com, backpage.com, TER.com(regional boards), naughtyreviews.com.....and I have yet to get ANY replies from my ads. With Craig's list I would post an ad get at least 20 replies with at least 2 meet ups.

I'm seriously freaking out here as I just moved into a new bigger apartment that my real day job can not pay for all by itself. I am working on getting a erosads.com ad up(I need to renew my license first)

Am I doing something wrong? I have some regulars I see 1-2 times a month(but lately they have been busy or low on money or out of town) but I was looking for a few more repeat clients as well!

Help?

Second, recognize and embrace the simple fact that there will always be a market for the services we provide so someone, somewhere is going to see whatever ad you put.

Third, it will be the savviest marketers who survive, not those who succeeded because of luck.

It isn't the end of the world for CL to have closed its adult sections. I'm somewhat new, like you (I'm coming up on my first year anniversary as a provider next month). And, like you, I got quantifiably more business from CL than from the others. However, just in the two days that CL closed up shop, I've had more calls from the BP ad than previously.

I know of at least three local review sites that I can and will post on; sites I admittedly have given short shrift before now because I used CL so extensively. (LOL, those sites will probably see quite an uptick in business, now that one of their competitors is gone.)

Keep coming to TER, keep up with the advertising sites that are in your area, and don't lose hope. It's only a glitch and all markets have them occasionally. Good marketing and a level head (not panic) will see you through this.

I forget the exact name, but there is talk that many of the Adult ads are now appearing on there.

Look up the new services stories on it and one of them will name it.

I bet many of your old customers are looking on there now.

Don't panic, as people have said, this profession has been aroud for about a million years.  It's not going away any time soon.

If so, let us know, and attach a link.  It would also be helpful to post your ad here on the regional board that is closest to where you live/work.   Given that CL went down just just two days ago, and that it's likely that Backpage will pick up most of the slack, you may need to be patient in the short term.  If you are serious about getting business from the typical hobbyist that uses TER as a primary forum, reviews here and a professional appearance via a quality personal website are musts.  Let us know, and good luck!

I find a lot of fake and scams on Craig's list and have always used Backpage, not CL.

Besides, after the CL Murderer, some ladies don't use CL anymore.

I think it just takes time for a new audience or market see your ad somewhere else.

It may just take some time to get established on other sites.  BP in St. Louis is very active and from what I understand many providers have good luck using.  Eros is not as active in St. Louis but some of the top local ladies and many touring ones use it.  There are also two local boards you could join and advertise on.  Stlasp.com and stlhobby.com, stlhobby requires references from both providers and hobbyists to gain membership.  They both have their good and bad points.  Probably to be very successful on local boards you do sort of have to "play the game" as in be an active member post more than just advertisements.  Stlasp does require you to be a paid member before posting in their advertising section.  Another board that has some St. Louis coverage is grainbeltnews.com.

Depending on your area try popular local papers that let you advertise in their papers or on their website. Try getting a premium listing on cityvibe. I myself say I get 60% from BP, 15-ish% TER, 15-ish% CV (I keep a premium and/or featured listing most of the time), and 10-ish% mix of escorts.com, date-check, preferred411, myproviderguide. BUT eros is supposed to be good in the DC area and there's a thing here called the washington city paper that is supposed to be good also..if BP goes down then it's to the city paper print or online & eros I go...i'm not heartbroken about CL since I almost never used it...like very very rarely.  Basically don't feel screwed just search harder for other options, it doesn't hurt to ask around to other providers.  Hope I helped I have a provider friend whose bread & butter for the most part (like BP Has been for me) was CL also.

Also might be good to travel also. My provider friend I just mentioned does GREAT when she goes to Chicago or Long Island which are her top 2 places to travel...like she can stay in either place for a week and she's sort of low-volume (4 guys TOPS a day) and after expenses (travel, food, pricey hotel for a week) could bring back 4 to 5k. She would feel pretty set for the next month where she didn't stress too much about how much she made off of BP or CL etc for the next month. So...since CL adult services & adult gigs is shut down now it's safe to say she'll be heading to L.I. by the end of this month.

Good points but since CL is older a provider friend of mine said though BP is getting popular that not a lot of the guys using CL knew about BP but I think they will now. I don't think ladies who got most of their "work" should worry because the guys using CL and/or only CL didn't know about BP and other sites before....they will soon.

But where do you post when you travel?

My friend travels and we're similair in look and size (i'm a bit smaller than she) and she uses eros mostly when she travels....but aside from eros she's post once or twice in the day in that city's area BP escorts section...... depending on where you go some places to advertise are better than/more popular than others.
