can't find any reference on yahoo, google, or the "popular" news site you linked.

As your question has nothing to do with the questions of newbies, and how to use TER, I'd suggest that it is a better topic for the General Discussion board.

I'm researching the "ethical porn" movement. Does anyone know anything about this? Is it a big deal, or mostly an academic fad? Are there any major porn suppliers that have commitments to ethical porn?

Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.

(link removed my moderator since it had nothing to do with the question being asked).

If it's good porn, it's ethical.

If it's bad porn, it ain't.

And yes, I was a philosophy major.

From what I could find, "ethical porn" pertains to both the producer as well as separately to the sites that offer porn.

As it relates to the site, there is an interesting webpage which describes the many tricks that porn sites use, including browser hijack.  Ethical sites refrain from such practices:

There is an interesting paper, written by the Australia Institute which answers your questions about development of ethical porn:

Hope this helps!

I'm afraid that as with the subject of humor, any attempt to disect it in order to understand it, is usually fatal to the patient.
