Not a question.  But I thought this might help someone interested in combining their civie phone and hobby phone into one.  Or to help someone that wants to upgrade from a dumbphone to a smartphone; without a mandatory data plan.

Forget about unlocking whatever phone.  When you have a smartphone; regardless if it's unlocked, your carrier will get the IMEI number and compare that number to the list of known smartphones.  When it comes up you will get that popup message saying a data plan is now being added to your line.  You can use wifi or data to do everything a smartphone can.  I find the mandatory monthly plan disgusting.

Anywho, I bought a Zopo 100 for myself and it's pretty awesome.  Bought my mother a THL jellybean and getting a Pomp w89 for my father.  They, obviously, only need that one sim slot.  I'm using H20 (which is At&t) and now I have a civie and hobby smartphone with no mandatory monthly dataplan.  If I need to connect, I just use wifi.

Basically, I'm just recommending getting a dual sim smartphone from overseas; running the latest android.

(To avoid data charges, make sure you disable Data on your phone or disable data completely on your line.)

The idea of walking around with two dumbphones in my pocket seemed so silly to me.  I'm using the $10.00 200min. for 3 month plan for hobbying.  I dunno where else to get the phone card except from the main h20 site.  From settings, you can make android ask what phone line you want to use for each call/text.  Hopefully this info is useful to someone.

Lost me here but I think I have the gist.  Starts with getting a dual-sim smart phone from overseas?  Does this mean that the same device (phone) is mapped to two different phone numbers and profiles?  I have often wondered why such a device is not offered.  Many including me carry two phones, or more.  One for Work, another personal, etc.  Am I on the right track here?

Yeah, I hated the idea of having two phones.  Took me forever to find a simple solution.  For whatever reason I could only get a dual sim phone overseas.  If your phone is sim based, take out the chip from both phones and stick it in to a dual sim phone.

When you try and make a call or text, it will ask what sim card to use.  If you have 3 phones or more theirs 4 sim card phones avaliable.
