Hello all, very newbie here. OK thinking of taking first plunge, been doing my homework. So do most of you go to four star hotels? would I be the butt of jokes going to a Holiday Inn Express ? Also why is Craigs List so bad ? Some very hot woman on there or at least the pics are.
been staying away from cl as per advice on this board. sorry for all the questions. Thanks -J

Personally, when I make a date I'm pampering myself and like to be comfortable in something more than a "bed in a box."  There's alot to be said for a big comfy bed with lots of pillows and bolsters etc. That doesn't always mean the Ritz Carlton... Some of the all suites hotels are good, like Homewood Suites or Residents Inn. It's nice to have a place to sit down and chat, a mini fridge for some wine and bottled water etc.

great room and bath, lots of linen, and only about $150.

Three star is about the lowest I would ever to, something like a Marriott Courtyard.  Some providers specify four star, but not that many do.  Stay away from the places where the towels are like a washcloth, Motel 6, for example.

As for Craig's List, the problem with it (besides some of the crazies who go on there) is that LE is using it like the proverbial "shooting fish in a barrel", at least in some areas.

At least wait a few years until your senses are developed enough to sniff out a trap, if you ever decide to use CL.

The advice you have heard (to either stay away or to be VERY careful) stems from a high frequency of bait&switch, rip-offs, poor service and LE busts.

It certainly has its fans and some guys like it while other  guys like the quest to find a diamond in the rough so to speak as prevailing rates on CL may be lower.

However for the most part, and I'm sure there are exceptions and perhaps over time more exceptions will appear, on CL you will not find a lot of providers with a decent history of reliable reviews.  By doing your homework on TER and searching for ladies with a well documented history of providing consistent and reliable service, the guess work for hobbying can be virtually eliminated. You can rest assured that you will find an outstanding lady if you do this type of research.  Odds are pretty high that when you do this research that your list of CL only ladies will be on the low side.

Since you are a newbie, I also advise you to stay away from CL.  Depending upon your location it may appear to be your best source of choices but I do think as you get more exposed to the hobbying world in your community that you will find better options.  No matter what...do your homework and research, research, research...

Welcome Justin.  Listen to MrFisher et al.

I recently did a survey about hotels, (National Forum) as the prices of 3-5 star are heading for the stars and many girls are faced with either downsizing or increasing rates.

What I found on average is 2/3 of you guys like to stay in 4-5 star when "you" travel, but 2/3 don't care where the provider stays so long as it's not in the ghetto.  Gee, thanks...  :-)

Personally I like an upscale suite with a living area and mini bar. Marriott, Hilton, etc.  But I'll come visit you at the Holiday Inn or any place where the TV isn't bolted to the wall...

CL - my views are well known.  Most photos that look too good to be true on CL, are.

UNLESS - they are from a known professional who will also generally have links to her web site and additional photos and info, who will also have a paid ad on Eros or other more reputable site.  AND they will have a track record and reviews here on TER.

There are lot's of quality girls who advertise on CL, we do occasionally, as do most of the girls here on TER.  But almost without exception they will fit the above specs.

A girl with no reviews, no web site, no e-mail, no screening is either "ghetto," a "rob," LE, or a 14 year old boy fooling around where he shouldn't.

Now get out there and have some fun!

Giggle,
TS Jamie

Thanks everyone for the replies. One last follow up question, is it better to find a hotel and then contact your provider or visa-versa?

with the lady before you are outside of the hotel reservation cancellation window.

With that much being obvious then it would likely help if you had the hotel information at the ready when finalizing the arrangements with the lady.

With the exception of Vegas, where I try to stay someplace upper end, I'm more of a Holiday Inn kind of guy.  You don't have to spend $400 on a room to get a great lady to come see you, it should be a decent place in a safe location where you can both be comfortable.
Hell, I had a great time in a Super 8 once.
