Cannot thank this board enough for all the great info you all post. Had my first visit today and while very nerve racking I gladly chose wisely and got a woman who put me at great ease.

Was a little dicey in the beginning. I parked in a lot around the corner from her location. When I was walking from my car a Sheriffs cruiser came into the parking lot and seemed to follow me up this hill I was walking up. I thought "what is it written on my forehead where I am going" He turned into another lot and parked (probably going to nap). Then I go around to her street and what do I see parked right across the street from her front door? Another Sheriffs car. Needless to say this got me thinking!! I sucked it up and proceeded. But I figured they would not hide right out in the open like this, but damn what a way to be indoctrinated into the hobby!

This particular provider agreed to see me with no references from other providers (since I did not have any) and only my home address, cell phone number and a visit to my personal website. I guess if you have our own domain it is a little better to establish yourself than a yahoo or msn free email address (more trust worthy). She told me she also googled my email address and this turned up years of posts on other message boards about my hobbies, field of work and so on.

When I got into her place I dropped the envelope on the coffee table (do not even know if she saw it) and we sat and talked about general stuff but I just let her take the lead on physical stuff and never requested this or that.

I see many posts saying "when do I tell her what I want" I was also anxious about this thinking if I did not say something nothing would happen. But my advise, just shut up, let it happen, something will happen, then after that is when you can start barking orders.

I did not get to do everything I wanted as I forgot most of what I wanted to do! But very pleasurable none the less.

And she told me she would be glad to provide references for me in the future, so now I am set!!

Reminds me of the time I walked into a hotel lobby for an incall and was immediately surrounded by the boys in blue; I had walked straghit into the middle of a LE convention/seminar. I learned from that experience that the anxiety and nervousness is all in your head, as long as you act casual and don't draw attention to yourself, nobody knows or cares what you are there to do or who you came to see.

After joining TER, reading the boards, links, and learning as much as I could, I had my first encounter two weeks ago.  I located a provider whose pictures appealed to me.  Although she only had a few reviews, all were excellent.  

I had no references, so when she returned my call, she told me she "wasn't full service".  I decided to proceed nonetheless.

I had done my homework - took two showers, trimmed my nails, brushed my teeth again and again, had the donation laid out in an envelope with my driver's license next to it, brought a nice bottle of Merlot, etc.  

When she arrived, she still expressed the "no full service" attitude.  When she saw the driver's license, everything seemed to change for the better.  But then, she opened her bag, and pulled out a pair of handcuffs!  My life flashed before me as I tried to think of how I'd get bailed out.
Turned out she wanted me to use 'em on her!
 
I treated her with respect, and was rewarded with an absolutely wonderful experience.  In addition to being a sexual dynamo, she was a genuinely nice person that was fun to be around.  So, newbies, if you're having trouble pulling the trigger - do your research and go for it!  Now!  I'm kicking myself for waiting as long as I did.  Thanks again to you all.
