Decided to get into the hobby a little. I travel a lot all around the country. Two weeks ago in San Diego, I email exchanged several times with a provider and even spoke with her earlier in the day...all was fine. At the time she was supposed to show up at my hotel, she had to cancel last minute (car accident?!?)

Ok..Sh_t happens...I am in Phoenix now, made arrangements last week. Exchanged emails, all fine..Called today and left a message to confirm things tonight as she directed and no response at all to my message. nothing...

I am a 39 y/o professional. I am also pretty well off financially. WTF??   Its pretty sad that I can't even get somebody to pay (BTW, I am sitting here with a pile of cash, seriously)

Is this common???

Sadly it is.  It cuts both ways and more often then not it's the guy who no shows, no calls the lady.  I would guess because you are new they got worried and that's why they did not show.  It's only a guess, but if you have not seen any one it's can make it tough.

Okay, so what's TER protocol for reporting a flake?  I had a bad experience this weekend with a well-reviewed provider in LV.  After confirming the time by e-mail earlier in the week and time/place by phone 24 hours before, I had to call her at T+30 (being careful to be perfectly nice) to hear: "Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry, I was supposed to be there 30 minutes ago??  I wrote down the wrong time.  I'll be there in 30 minutes, tops!"  Ninety minutes and two phone attempts later, I went to bed having spent my last night in Vegas sitting in my hotel room for two hours.

I can't really post this account on the girl's page, can I?  I can't call her a rip-off, since all she took was my time, not my money.  Is there a "flake report" feature of TER?  Not looking to be vindictive, but I'd think it's useful information to propogate.  I can't be the only one.

(I should also mention that I had a wonderful experience with reliable professionals another night during my stay.  So my newbie .500 batting average means I'll definitely be stepping up to the plate again.)

Okay, no responses.  I'm just going to submit a review with a "2" rating and see if they take it.

Sadly, there is not place to report flakes. Best you can do is post your experience on the local board and give out her detail and what did/didn't happen.

There are a lot of fine ladies out there who'd never dream of flaking out.  There are also lots of flakes.  The key is to do your homework here on TER -- go only with indies (independent providers, who don't work for an agency) that are well reviewed.  Occasionally a quality indie may need to cancel, but it'll be very rare, and only in case of genuine need.  I've yet to have an indie flake on me -- they understand the effect that a bad review can have on their bottom line.

Cheers!

I'm 0 for 1, in Phoenix this past March due to an issue with the provider.  We'd emailed and talked several times the night we were supposed to get together, and although disappointed, I didn't blame her for our missed connection since it really wasn't her fault.

So I felt really lucky when she emailed me last month, telling me that she was going to be in my city this summer on vacation, and wanted to make it up to me.  She's starting her vacation a day early so we can get together while she's here.  Two months from today....  I can't wait!

Good luck....

So what part of the country are you in right now??? :-) I would be happy to keep you company.

I'm in NYC, where I live. Monday I will be in Greenville, SC
