didn't work for me

Oh well.

The man on the other end identified himself as F.... from (a type of business, not a company name), and then told me that his friend S...., recommended me.  That sent a shiver down my spine as I didn't recall a S.... (I've only had five clients in the month I've been active; one has already become a regular, one has been a repeat and the other three have been uniques).  I said I didn't recall S....; the guy said that S.... might have used a fake name because "he's likely to do that."

Of course, that didn't make me feel any better.

I thought I'd try to find out what F.... wanted; he was cagey enough to say he wasn't going to talk about it over the phone.  I asked if he'd seen my site; he didn't have Internet.  I finally told him I didn't have a place he could come to; that I was outcall only.

He didn't get any more graphic than to say that he had a motor home and would like to make the thing rock.  (Parked in a store's parking lot, no less!)

I was now REALLY uncomfortable.  I told him that I wanted the name of the business; I assured him I'd be discreet in checking him out.  He didn't know the number.  He backpedaled and said that he didn't work there, but S.... did. I told him that he needed to have S.... call me and vouch for me.  He started to complain that he didn't think he had the guy's phone number... I told him that when S.... called, then he could call me again.  I hung up.

Funny thing (sarcasm dripping out of every word), I haven't heard from S....  Or again from F....

Good possibility of LEO.  It just seems unlikely that F didn't have any phone numbers, especially his friend's.  That just makes no sense.  Also doesn't sit right that he has no internet access???
Who does he think he's kidding?

You did all the right things, IMHO.

a couple friends and both agreed that it might have been LE, but more likely that the guy wanted to avoid being screened.  One suggested that F.... might have thought I had so many clients that I wouldn't actually remember S.... but simply take his word for it. The other said that I was right to listen to my instincts and to hang up when I did.

As for the Internet, some people in this town really don't have Internet access.  Also here you have to have a library card to use the library computers.  So that lack isn't what made me uncomfortable.

It was the lack of verifiable phone numbers that clinched the entire bad feelings.

When I clicked on the link, it said your site does not exist there.

I'm finding that about a third of interested parties can't get on the link the first time or two.  I'm not computer savvy enough to tell you why it doesn't work or what you could do to "fix" it.

Definately way to sketchy. Sounds like either LE or someone that's going to be a criminal.  Who lives in a parking lot anyway?

Maybe they don't have internet but they can't log onto adult sites from may public computer/library/school/etc.
The bigger thing is he gave you no information to verify except some make believe friend.  I don't think a meeting in a motorhome in a store lot is discrete...
It may have been LE or it may have been a bumbling newbie.  No matter, you did the right thing.

nothing is safe and discreet about it.  Especially with hotels free internet access/WiFi.

Download AOL Browser.  Or use your own WiFi.  Everyone can see what you're doing and LE could easily knock at your door.

Probably just some guy trying to dodge the screening. I would think that LE would be a little better rehearsed than that.

Always TRUST you gut instincts, if it doesn't seem right to you just PASS!!!!! There is a reason we all have those little hairs on the back of our necks, and if they are standing up, it is time to walk on!!!!!
