I have a provider asking for a $1.00 credit card pre auth to book an appointment.

Has anyone ever heard of this or is it a scam?

Thanks for the help in advance

Too risky for me, I defiantly don't have a problem with ladies screening it makes it safer for her as well as us, but they are too many good independents out there to take the cc risk. Not only is there a paper trail but it goes without saying the risk of unwanted charges. I'm new to this as well but with a little research and discretion you can find exactly ( or better) than what you are looking for. Find a nice highly reviewed independent lady and if you treat her well she will open doors for you at least how it worked for me. One other things agencies seem to attract more LE attention. Good luck and have fun!!

Goes to websecuritylink.  It is listed on several sites as a verification scam seen frequently in CL ad responses.  Just google it for more info.  They just want you CC and other info, and you probably get recurring charges.  Stay away!

While it's possible that nothing bad will happen, but why take the chance????  They just want your CC info most likely.

Thank you all for help. Just trying to figure this whole thing out.

Pays to be cautious.

You can get unauthorized charges, recurring charges...  no telling what they'll sign you up for.  Probably pay for porn sites...   You'll dispute the charges & end up getting a new card.  Some of these scams they only make small charges...  they add up over multiple people...  but as was said, recur every month.  Some people might not catch the small charges.
By the way, you'll probably never meet her.  Might not even be a girl.  Likely stolen pictures.
A provider does not need your CC.  Best to stick with cash payments.  Leave no tracks!!

I don't care how the ad tries to justify it, it's not how the game is played.

... for the pre-auth, as another form of verification.

She might think, that if a gentleman is willing to use a credit card, he is not LE.  Silly, silly.

I would pass.  Just my .02.

If they are only asking for $1.00 then my guess is it's simply a scam to obtain your number. Just my 2 cents.
