Confirmation of potential clients is a good idea.

But from your perspective, you should find a provider that asks for only the information that you are comfortable giving out. Good confirmation helps a provider and you.  What you should do is check reviews and locate providers that have good performance scores and look for hobbyists that say that they have seen such providers more than once - such information is an indication that the provider values client relationships and do the right things to maintain those relationships.

If you give out work information (like a main exchange number), ask that the provider make the conversation as short as possible if she calls through the main exchange number to reach you.  If you have a greeting on your extension once she has called through the main exchange then she should stop there.  Also, with your company's name, she can use the internet to do more verification to assuage any concerns that she may have.

I give my home contact information out when I have done research on a lady first.  But I am single with no SO or roommate around to pick that information up.  You should use discretion in giving out home information if you have an SO or roommate(s).

I'm looking forward to my first time in the hobby.  Obviosly I have no references, I have contacted a couple of providers to find out what else would work to ensure their safety.  My responses are first and last name, home address, and home address and/or home phone number.  Also Work information.  How do they use this information and what is done by the provider to confirm info.  I understand they need to take mesures to be safe, but both home and work info, are places where discreteness is neccessary for me.  I personally can't think of any thing else to provide either, but what is done with this information by the provider to make sure it is legit?  Also wondering, once I have a couple of references does this mean I will no longer need to provide this info?  Is it really that tight of an industry where independent providers call each other to confirm?

My way is that if a provider asks for all that (work number & info, home address, etc.), I just move on to the next one!

I've had plenty of good providers and none of them has requested that info.  That's my experience, but my point is that they're out there.  And there are plenty.  Good ones, too!

I've got too much invested in my career, my family life, my personal life to risk divulging.  And your instincts are serving you properly when you bring up these questions.

#1 - If the provider gets busted, LE can trace through her client list.  Remember Heidi Fleiss.  Exposure for you!

#2 - If you have a falling out with a provider (Hey, it can happen!  We're all humans.), she can use the info against you.

#3 - Even if nothing happens, you will live in uncertainty for many years because once this info is released, you never know where it is.  There's nobody controlling this info.

This is not just paranoia; bad things happen because guys are careless with their information.

I have provided references for a few providers but I discourage it. LE can decide at any time to let a guy have a private session with me and then use my name to catch other providers since I haven't met these girls or vice versa.

never mention sex for money. have the money in an envelope UNSEALED. I had one customer give me a sealed envelope and it had blank paper in it.

and spent some time talking to her. If you do other activities aside from your favorite, it is hard to get a guilty verdict from a jury trial. You can always get falsely arrested and detained depending on how bored LE is and how badly they dislike a certain provider but jury trials rarely go forward and unless you are explicit in describing what you want, you will go free.

(I am still new to this business but I have a prelaw degree and this is what my legal professors have told me)

It is all a matter of personal choice.  Only give out the information you feel comfortable with.  Not every lady requires all of the facts you mentioned.

From a personal standpoint, I NEVER EVER give out my work number (had a bad experience).

Just some thoughts.
