Hey. I'm new. I've never hired an escort... ohh but I've thought about it..

So during a fairly drunken and.. eh carnal reverie I was browsing through craigslist, mostly for reading material... right? right.

I stumbled upon a real persons ad who was quite attractive and I sent an email to them. The ad was not an ad for an escort, it was a casual encounter nsa ad.

So, I need some advice, and here's where it gets tricky. The person who will remain anonymous sent a reply that made my very nervous (I might be a bit gun shy yet with legalities and I will recant this post depending on the consensus.)

Quote: "how much can you help out if i bleeped you off" and then at the end of the message "this would be strictly for our time together"

I thought the whole idea was to NOT mention any specific act and 'accept' donations for time. It just seemed out of wack. I've been reading up at saafe, dating.com, and my local state laws concerning the issue and it states:

Patronization of a prostitute is considered unlawful and is when one person gives something of value as compensation to another person in exchange for engaging in sexual conduct or requesting or soliciting another for acts of sexual conduct in exchange for payment. Considered a class B misdemeanor, it usually results in a sentence of 30 days to 6 months in jail and/or a fine up to $500.

So here is question #1 and #2:
If I even discuss a figure with them after they have offered the service, am I guilty of patronizing?
Is it normal protocol and is it still an acceptable manner to approach someone?

Remember, I thought this was a personal ad at first.. So I sent an email back saying something to the effect that I could help her out if she needed it but I didn't want sex in exchange per se but I would like to meet and hangout, whatever, 'time'. Basically shamelessly covering my ass here.

So I go on with my daily dealings, sober up, go to the casino, whatev, but I can't get it out of my head that m'fer Chris Hansen from Dateline is going to be showing up at my door to tell me to take a seat so that we can review our chat lawgs because her ad got deleted fast and I never did ask her how old she was, and to be honest all I looked at in her picture was her smile.. and maybe her tits..

Well then I asked her how old she was and '18 with ID' was the response and she resent the picture. I saw some things in the picture that concerned me that I didn't notice before... not to mention felt like a creep because i'm in my early 30's and she is 18.

So I 'assumed' that she might really be desperate and need help so I wrote another email to the effect stating if there was some serious need or problem forcing her to do something she didn't enjoy doing that I would help without any strings attached or 'favors' or anything, because well, i felt like a piece of shit and I'm capable of helping right now.

Which probably came off as me judging her and escorts in general.. which is not true, if I could sell my sexy time I would. At a discount. Later I did find a proper escort ad from this person on a different site, which made me feel even more dumb for sending the previous email.

Then I stumbled upon this legal snip.

However, patronization of a prostitute between the ages of 14 to 18 years old results in charges of a class A misdemeanor.

Does that include people who are 18? Does it matter? It doesn't say escort, it says prostitute which would already assume guilt... ?

Do you think the person was legit or the fuzz?

Do you think I handled that completely wrong?
