Cold sores are highly contagious, embarrasing and painful. WTF is she thinking subjecting anyone to that?

I don't believe in rewarding bad behavior either, by offering her a cancellation fee it makes it my fault and not hers, and further encourages her to continue this type of conduct.

I have seen a provider in the past and she had a sore on her lip. I asked her, and she said it was a cold sore. Luckily for me, I had visited my physician prior to our visit. I informed him about my hobby's and he told me about steps I can take. He showed me pictures of Herpes on the lips and private areas. From my view, it appeared that my provider had Herpes on the lips. I chose to pass on DATY or kissing her. I did receive a CBJ and full service. Should I just leave next time I spot something like a cold sore or any other things that is off-putting? And if so, how would I go about it without sounding rude?

You can still get herpes while wearing a condom.

A condom is not that effective against any of the herpes family. Get checked. Do worry to much though about HSV-1 as most everyone (70% to 98%) has it. The thing is though you can't tell HSV-1 from HSV-2 and much fewer people have it and it is a bigger deal. Get checked. Next time walk out.

HSV-2 rarely(if ever) causes cold sores. The OP has little to worry about the exposure( Assuming he has never had HSV-1 in the past) he mentioned as Condom would have prevented the transmission of HSV-1 onto him as long as the provider did not service him orally on the areas not covered by the condom.

But of course, the smarter option would have been to walk out.

But it is some what rare and transmission  is also fairly rare as well. If he has as most do HSV-1 he has nothing to fear from it as he has the antibodies to fight it off and the risk of a second site is very rare unless his immune system is some how compromised. Of corse any infection HSV-1,2 is for life and incurable. Both  can mimic the other in symptoms and there are many who carry and spread ether without ever having symptoms. He should get tested, as should we are but I wouldn't worry too much if I was him. And of course he should have walked out but too late now.

SO has HSV-1, since before we were married 25 years ago...  and I still do not, despite my being immune suppressed.  There was no play if there was any hint of an outbreak, period.   Outbreaks can be triggered by hormones.
Valtrex clears up outbreaks pretty quickly.  She can generally feel them before they are visible.  Provider should build up a nest egg to carry her through outbreaks...  and should keep Valtrex on hand.

There are two herpes viruses. HSV-1 and HSV-2.

HSV-1 is most common in or around the mouth. Some 80% of the population has it as it spreads simply through saliva and touch and spreads easily. Chances are you have it. It can lay dormant for years.(hell your own mother could have gave it to you) They are really common and not a health concearn. HOWEVER, HSV-1 can be spread to the genitals through mouth-to-genital contact.

HSV-2 is most commonly called genital herpes although a person CAN get HSV-2 in and around their mouth. HSV-2 in the mouth is more serious than HSV-1 of the mouth. You'll get more breakouts and larger clusters of 'blisters'.
The scary thing is both types of herpes can be spread with out without symptoms...most people don't even know they have either kind. I had a genital herpes scare last year but after a visit to the doc I learned I was allergic to the gel in my shaver which caused bumps. But while I was there(and before my visit) I researched herpes like crazy.

If she has a rather large blister and a few clustered then she probley has HSV-2 which out of both is the worse one. If you suspect ANY provider has a STD I'd avoid them like the plague. Especially if they are meeting clients when they are openly breaking out *shudder*. All it takes is skin-to-skin contact to spread. Of all the STDS herpes is the one I fear getting as it is so easy to get. It may not be life threatening but I can't imagine it's pleasent.


LONG story short, don't see her again. She's highly contagious if she is breaking out regardless if it is HSV-1 or HSV-2. That is irresponsible on her part...

But please do not see a provider who is in an active outbreak
