I'm new to the site as well, but think I might be able to answer your question.

Provider status is achieved when a client posts a review of the provider. I have written up two reviews. My first one was not approved because the provider took her information down from the site. The second review is still pending approval.

I'm guessing what happens is once a review is sent the staff verifies the information. It is stated that it takes about 72 hours to go from a submitting the review to actually being posted. I have also seen providers associated with agencies where the agency appears to be posting a review of the provider, but TER states that agencies shouldn't be doing this.

If I were you I'd use the regional ad boards and post some ads there. That way you could get more active with this community and perhaps get a client to post a review of you so that you could get provider status.

Good luck! :)

I am wondering how do I go about achieving provider status on this board? I have been an  verified provider for over 2 yrs and have over 60 reviews on other review site. I would like to be able to post ads and get to know the community... I have heard great things about this site.

First thing to do it read the self help center.  The link is underneath the life preserver at the top of the page.  As far as getting provider status here, you already have that.   All members here are either providers or hobbyists.   You won't have a profile here until one of your clients posts a review of you.  When that happens, you can request admin to link your review(s) to your handle.  That way, any time you post something a reader can go right to your profile.  Also, with a review, you can ask for limited VIP status which will allow you read the juicy details of your reviews.  To read the juicy details of other providers, you will have to get a paid membership.

You can post an ad once every 7 days on your regional ad board, but you must have either a personal website or an ad that you can include the link to in your ad.  Posting on your regional board is the best way to get your name out there.  If your board has picture theme days, post your pics on them.
