Classic TER dates back to 2005. At the time, it was a step forward, yet not from the TER format as I originally remember it.
Fast forward to 2010, the current TER format was put into place. Although graphically superior, and up to date at the time, the default fonts were smaller, which caused many hobbyists to have kittens. TER also initially dumped the tree format on the boards, rendering them essentially useless as this meant no one could easily discern who was responding to who. Many of us complained loudly about that, and the powers that be listened and restored that essential feature. After that, most of us adapted, although there were a few holdouts, some of them prominent members of the community.
Now, TER has announced it's going to be upgrading in a major way soon. I am for it, have volunteered to test out the new beta, and what I found most interesting is that the ladies here also are mostly enthusiastic about stepping forward. Conversely, the majority of hobbyists who posted are more guarded, and if past experience repeats itself, there will be a lot of whining and bitching. All I can say, is that change is part of life, same as death and taxes. Those that adapt will do better...
