a large majority of married mongers use burner phones or a burner ap.

Even though I don't have an SO, I use a burner phone.

Enables you to walk away from a SHTF scenario if you've been careful and no one can connect that number to you IRL.

A burner phone as a second phone is an absolute  must.  It has no connection to the real you or credit cards or anything.
You can buy a TracPhone at Target for $25 to $100 cash depending on features.  A year of text and phone is $99, again paid in cash.   Do not do anything on this phone, except arranging with providers.  When they stopped 3G, I bought a new phone and was able to transfer the phone number to the new 4G phone.  The tech at Target did this in a few minutes.

The cost of this is less than a half hour visit.  Well worth it for the security.

Your burner phone number becomes your ID for all providers you talk to.   Should there ever be a big issue, you can just trash the phone and get a new one.  Explain to the  providers that this is replacing your old number.
