How long can a person go back and ask a woman for a reference???  Once a provider told me if she had not seen someone in six months then no reference.

many providers will accept.  I think it's a reasonable time frame.  As mentioned previously, it's likely that if it has been longer than that since you saw her she will quite likely not remember unless there was something really exceptional about your visit with her.
