They will use your real name and employment info to check against a LinkedIn profile, or perhaps a company website.  Or they will call the main switchboard to make sure you are an employee and then hang up before you pick up.  Or say that they are your travel agent.  

It's really just so they can figure that you are who you say you are.

Well would it be a problem if I dont work anywhere right now? I was let go from my job about 2 weeks ago. Thats why I said in my original post, " past employers."
