I have to use an alias on this one because my experience was so bad it's embarrassing! I called the number on a BP ad. The girl who showed up looked nothing like the photos. (But still hot.) She asked for $800 up front, which I stupidly gave her. She went outside and gave the money to her driver. Then she came back and told me, "$800 is the agency fee and I work for tips."

Fuck! OK. So I give her another $300. She puts the money in her pocket and says she will dance topless for me, but nothing else. No touching, no sex, no BJ, nothing. I said, "You're kidding?!" And she said, "No. That's all I can do." She even tried to convince me that, on the East Coast, there are girls who will go all the way, but not here in Los Angeles! LOL!!!

It was right after that bad experience that I started searching for a way to avoid being ripped off. And guess what I found? This place!  :)

Newbie here thinking about having an out-call backpage provider come to my home. I live alone, its clean, and in a good neighborhood.   Assuming I can screen out to some extent the flakes and shake down artists, does anyone have any bad experiences where a good girl has gone bad, or being set up by a bad girl that seems good?  Or, any general comments of using your home for the meet?

Not a good idea to have an out call to your home. I wouldn't do that until I had seen the lady several times and knew without a doubt I could trust her. No matter how much you check her out you never know what might happen and you don't want it happening at your home. I wouldn't want her to know where I live. Either do an in call or set the out call up at a hotel. There is enough risk in this hobby without adding the unnecessary to it.

Not a good idea to have her come to your house, especially if you have not seen her before.  Secondly, if she has a driver, you don't know anything about him/her.  In that case, there is someone you have never seen before who knows where you live, which would make it very easy for them to find out more about you without your knowledge.  You want to take that risk?  I assume you are single, which does make it easier, but what about your neighbors?  

I would also recommend either the incall if she has her own place, or getting a room at a hotel/motel for the meeting.  I would have to be very comfortable with any provider to ask her to my home, and that would take numerous visits.

I invited this gal in and she stayed almost 20 years, then left with half my stuff.

That was my ex, however.

With other gals, I do have them stay over and never had a problem, but of course I already got to know them well and they are all very well reviewed.

I'd be very leary of just having any old BP gal come over, at least not on the first date.

The woman wasn't the woman from the photos. Two showed up and tried to get me to do a double, one of whom I didn't expect. The woman that I did choose was horribly bad at the craft. And to top off the night, I had expensive camera equipment stolen by the one that I didn't choose. I lost lots of important information, some sensitive. Fortunately for me, the thief seemed to only want the camera equipment. I only invite proven ladies to the place that I have set up as an occasional love space and business workspace. I have too many important items there to invite another unknown from Backpage into that space.

I assume that you came to an escort review site for good reasons. Use the experience and wisdom that is being offered you to save yourself trouble.

Thank you all for the advice and sharing your experiences.   Yeah, I am single, and cheap - don't want to pay for a motel for an hour of entertainment.  I'm 59 and as Mick Jagger sang " I ain't got that kind of jam".  But I  see now the money saved isn't worth the costs.  Maybe someday, but only after I am sure of what I am getting and who I am getting it from.  More work in this hobby than I imagined.

They pay for the location. You pay their asking price. Example, if a hotel room sets you back $150 and you pay a potential Backpage ripoff $200 to visit you, you're down $350 out of the gate, that does not count the upcharges that the ripoff tries to and in many cases, does pin on you. You could finish the night having to date Ruby Lefthand after shelling out untold hundreds for zero satisfaction. $350 will get you an hour with a good provider who will seal the deal for you without running you through bullshit.
