Asking for a reference from an agency

I am new to the hobby, so after reading through the FAQ I decided to try a reputable agency for my first time. It was a good experience, and I would like to use them as a reference in the future.

However, I am not sure the correct etiquette for asking for a reference. I assume I have to ask the agency, as I have no contact information for the actual provider. Is this the correct way? I mean, I assume they get so many clients so how would they remember me?

Thanks for the help.

A few agencies provide references but most don't. You'll just need to ask them if they are willing to provide a reference.

Yes, you would ask the agency if it is OK to use them.  Be aware that many independent providers will not accept an reference from an agency since most of them don't screen as thoroughly as indie's do.

Let them know you expect to use their services again soon but also tell them you would like to use them as a reference to see an independant provider.

If they agree, many will.  Simply keep their reply email.  When the time comes to use them as a reference, forward the email exchange to them as a reminder of who you are.

It is always a good idea to give your reference ladies a heads up about a reference check anyway.  It makes sure they know who you are when asked and lets you stay connected to them without crossing any boundaries.

It works for me.
