There are reputable agencies and there are reputable independents. Doing your research here will help you know which ones are. There are reviews of agencies here on TER as well as all the provider reviews. For the agency reviews click on "Site Reviews" at the top of the page then go from there on the menu choices. I use an agency a lot. I see independents too. I like the agency because I'm screened there. It's a one time thing and now whenever I want to see someone especially if they are new, I call, set the day and time, and I'm in. No back and forth required. The agencies I use have a 60/40 split with the providers. The provider gets 60 % of the donation the agency gets 40%. I can't speak for the photos you mentioned but the photos of the providers I see and have seen at the agencies I use are right on.
Bottom line whether agency or independent do your homework. Check them out here and by back channel with reviewers to see what their reputation is.

I'd like your experiences on booking independents vs. agencies. Is there value in using an agency? Seems to me that the photos are too good to be true. What is your experience on this subject and why?

However here on the newbie board we simply answer the question or point out where the answer can be found without the editorial on the frequency of the question. If you have some useful information for the OP please make a contribution.
Some are very good, and the pictures are real.
Check the reviews. If most of the ladies from an agency have good reviews, chances are you will have a good experience with a provider from that agency. But as always YMMV.
been checking out some Agency girls lately.
I didn't realize, alot of the ladies are kinda independant anyhow.
They use the agency when they are touring that area. ( at least that's the way it appears to me )
Basically, they pay the agency to advertise for them.
Some of the better agencies, have some REALLY HOT WOMEN.

I find lots of good talent with indies, and none of them (to my knowledge, anyways)has even been busted.
As long as you get a good indy or agency, your experienes can be the same. Some agency girls are not making a ton of money being the agency takes half, so many have to work 3 times as much to make what an indy can in one appt. I have worked for some very reputable agencies in D.C. and NYC, and my cut was over 500 an hour. In the south, that would only be 150, which is of no interest to me.
There are good and bad with both, but if you're more of a spur of the moment guy, an agency is your best bet. If you want outcall at midnight, and agency is also your best bet. Very few indies I know would run to a hotel room without prior notice, but some would I guess. Whatever route you go, just be sure to check reviews first.

I seem to prefer well reviewed independents. I have had some great dates with women from agencies over the years. However, IMO, they are often with an agency because they are not that committed, they are just starting out, or they were independent and decided that they did not want the cost associated with running a website and advertising and having an incall location.
The majority of the woman I've been with at agencies were not as good at providing a memorable GFE experience. I enjoyed myself, they were pretty and nice to me...but just are not as good at, nor passionate about their business like a good, well reviewed independent provider.
I keep saying well reviewed. Its harder to have an idea what a specific provider is like at an agency, because agencies are not reviewed as often as independents. Even if the agency is reviewed, because of the nature of the business, the girl may only work for an agency for a year or less so there are always un-reviewed girls working there. That does not mean you're going to have a bad time or anything, it does mean though that you dont know what kind of expeience she offers and if she is a good fit for you.

I agree with surlyboy. A well reviewed independent is usually the best bet. The agencies are good but can be a bit mechanical and sometimes they keep getting calls from their "superiors". I think an agency is great for the man who is a high profile figure who wants a dependable variety to chose from and does not want to have to do the TER research. However, for the regular man who happens to be successful but not well known, doing your research and getting an independent is better. Independents can actually become good "professional friends" who you might get to know and hang out with a little bit. Just never get attached. It is always about the envelope.
